A timely capture of The Nest this morning at 10:22, by CamFan:Bless the Vets

Thanks, Sallyls, for the ID. I figured you could make heads, er, tails, of CamFan's capture. I was a bit confused by what appeared to be more than one black tail band in CamFan's shot, as compared to the kestrel in flight above, who looked to have just one band. Of course, the latter photo was made at some distance, and could be less revealing of ...

On CamFan's behalf, I'm posting this capture from the Hawk Cam at 4:45 p.m today. We think this may be the tail of one of the kestrels who have been frequenting the Tower. The bars on the tail's underside (I'm assuming it's the underside) appear similar to those in a Web photo of a kestrel, though a closer comparison with the kestrel in Catgirl's ...

catgirl:Here is a photo of that area from last January. I think what you see now are the remains of that object - (star shaped mylar helium balloon with streamers off the points?!)Aha, mystery solved. Thanks. Those thinner projections at lower right were what I'd noticed. Hadn't made out the blue and red until I enlarged. Shucksfrom ...

November riches, Catgirl....Thank you! I'm wondering about a particular area of the photos with Kay and the kestrel. There appear to be some objects, somewhat like sticks, behind the dish-like structure at right. I don't suppose that could be a nest of some sort (kestrel)? And Mrs. Red Hawk is indeed parked right under it. See the area from ...

Observer:There was a bird on the golden rod but not a hawk.Great photos, Observer. I'm wondering whether that bird might be a kestrel. We've seen them on the Tower in the past (though none of the captures I have show the birds from the front, as as to compare with these photos). Here is a description of a male kestrel ( ...

BRAVO, Sally! And thank you for the capture. Here's an enhancement of your first capture, though my quality isn't great. Don't know about the 11:00 object; but could that be greenery off to the right? I didn't do anything to the color. Thanks, Hawk Cam!And Sally's second capture:And here's my closeup at 3:52:And here was the nest on August 21. This

Well, as we are currently left to our own minds' eyes regarding the Tower nest scene, we might as well do some Halloween conjuring. Hence....BOO!Thanks to Catgirl for original photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheryls_camera/collections/72157615485287801/

Catgirl reported on her Flickr site that she had seen a hawk on 10/7 at 45th and Elwood that bore a resemblance to Jay. She also posted a couple of photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cheryls_camera/page3/I've taken the liberty of enhancing them and posting them here for your comment. First, here's the location of the sighting relative to ...
