Our Get-Well Wishes for Wings2C
I am sending an email to wings2c with a copy/pasting of your words
here, bobdmac and Catbird's as well. Anybody else? I'll send her
more... Hopefully, it should help to cheer her a bit.
My subject line on this one reads: "Good Wishes From the Forum 1" (I am assuming there will be more...)
And this first one contains the following:
FROM CATBIRD'S POST:
"Three
surgeries on one hand at one time. Well. THAT is hard. I had one
surgery on one hand at a time 15 years ago and I also lived alone and I
also found myself mightily frustrated. Open a can one handed? Try it.
Dress yourself one handed? button a shirt, pull up a zipper. Do dishes?
Lock a door? Open a microwave dinner box one handed. Open your mail?
Without swearing. Take a shower? Forget it for the duration, but three
in one day on one hand! Dear me, wings, can someone bring in meals for
you til you can "get a grip" on things? Or can you live on Chinese
delivery for the duration? Love those pain pills. Don't hesitate to ask
your doctor if you need more. Baby yourself. Okay? There is no need to
be stoic and suffer if they are offering relief! But ... of course,
since a mouse move and click only takes one hand, we expect that you
will be able to keep your one good "hand in" and follow the news at the
forum :-)) where folks are thinking of your and maybe worrying a bit
too. And maybe you can manage some of those links that bobdmac put up
with magical photos of redtails and kestrels. No keyboarding, of
course, but maybe that is why the "mouse" was invented?"
FROM BOBDMAC'S POST:
"Thanks,
Socal, for the update on Wings. I hope she knows we wish her all the
best and a speedy recovery, with a minimum of pain."
In fact, I may move this post to a new thread that everybody can post their good wishes and notes to wings2c on....

Wings2C:
I'm sure by now most know I am not to good with words. I have the same feelings as the rest but it probably won't be said near as nicely! I too have had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand and just having that was a very helpless feeling! I do hope you have someone near you to help with recovery. Spend your time enjoying what you may find to occupy you. Pamper yourself. Remember it is only temporary when it is healed you will be so much better. Follow doctors orders and don't try to rush things. We will miss your posts but you will definitely be in my prayers!
Wishing you a very quick recovery

Re: Our Get-Well Wishes for Wings2C
Wings2C. Thinking of you tonight and hope you have a restful evening. I had rotator cuff surgery and with a husband and grown son at home, I wound up taking care of myself the day after surgery. No one seem to know what to do with me. So, I just took care of myself with one good arm and we never missed a meal. Getting dressed and the bathroom was something to behold though. Don't mean to say they didn't want to help, but mom " carries on" like she usually does.
Hope the coming days are uneventful and take those pain pills. They give them for a reason. Get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Wings––I hope the good wishes from all the good people here and the pretty hawk pictures help you ease the pain and pass the time. We miss you.

Re: Our Get-Well Wishes for Wings2C
you all are the most thoughtful and kind people i have ever known. this means so much to me. i am feeling better today. it has been difficult by myself, but hopefully the worse is over. i had my thumb joint repaired, a trigger finger release and carpal tunnel release. the right hand may have to wait, after this experience. catbird described it pretty accurately!
i love all of the pictures on flicker. and, the hawk bob.....amazing, thank you all so much. this was a special treat for me. hugs to you all. and, yes, thank goodness for the mouse!!

Re: Our Get-Well Wishes for Wings2C
Wings:
Lordy - just imagining baby changing one-handed is enough to scare me!
I also wanted to let you know that when you go for checkups and to get the first big fluff dressing off, it is normal for it to be very gross and grungy and the docs and nurses are used to seeing all kinds of messy dressings. I had everything from spaghetti sauce to cat litter imbedded in my "mitten" dressing, and even had some scotch tape stuck in it because I had tried to make a sticky mitt (reversed scotch tape) to make picking up little things easier. Another bright idea that blew a fuse.
Probably the only thing worse that I can think of are two things: One is a coworker years ago who insisted on having both her carpal tunnel release surgeries done at the same time, and two, the local trauma surgeon who fell playing soccer with his sons and broke BOTH arms.

Re: Our Get-Well Wishes for Wings2C
tripsqkr:Howdy Wings. So glad to hear your surgery went well & you are on the mend. Please take it easy & be careful not to overdo. The only thing that comes close for me (as far as learning to use one hand) was when I snapped both bones to my wrist when my youngest daughter was about 3 months old. Have you ever tried to change a diaper on a kicking kid with one hand? Boy was that a riot. We all miss ya bunches!!!
OUCH! That had to be painful! Thanks for thinking of me. Thank goodness all of my animals don't have to wear diapers!

Hi Catbird! When you are down it is always nice to have someone remind you that it could be much worse! My boss just came back to work after having both knees replaced! I can't imagine having both hands in this condition! But, like I told Socal, I have one finger working now and can use the shift key! Getting the bra on was a different story! I tried to hook it first then put it on over my head. It rolled up like a kinked rubber band. I didn't think I would ever get the damn thing off.
I am sure my dressing will be full of dog and cat hair! I haven't done much with food these days. Thanks for the heads up on the dressing. I hope he will take this cast off on Monday and just wrap it. At least, my fingers would touch then. That would help. Thanks again.
