    Condolences to Gary's Family

When I first started working at channel 2 in 1993, Gary Shore was one of the first people to welcome me to the station; I thought that was pretty impressive.

I grew up in Tulsa and anybody from Green Country, in my age group (born in 1972), knew Gary Shore…all due respect to the others who broadcast the weather in Tulsa, Gary was “the weatherman” in Tulsa.  I started with the station as a production assistant and my desk was originally located next to the weather office and to me, Gary was a local “star”, so I thought it was very nice of him to stop and welcome in a kid who was just trying to get a break in the business.

Gary was theatrical…theatrical to the point where it often times ruffled the feathers of those he worked with, but the reality is, Gary was extremely passionate about his job and I believe that is why he had such a strong following amongst viewers in Tulsa.

I always liked Gary and I’m very sad to hear of his sudden passing.  Gary was an icon in this city and he will always be remembered by longtime Tulsans and not every broadcaster has that distinction.  I would like to pass my condolences on to Ellen and the Shore family, Gary will be missed.

    Sincerely,

    Re: Condolences to Gary's Family

It was a pleasure meeting Gary the first night he arrived at the studio.  He was so full of excitement and enthusiasm.  I agree with Ryan in that Gary was "the weatherman" in Tulsa.  He was extremely passionate about his work and concern for protecting the community. I remember meeting Ellen for the first time.  They were such a happy couple.  Gary was sincere and genuine, always caring for everyone with whom he came in contact.  I could not believe my ears last night when my wife informed me of Gary's untimely death.  My sincerely condolences to Ellen and the family.
