    Ice Storm

Well, I got internet service again, luckly I didn't lose power though. I'm going to post some pictures of downed trees and such on here, but the main thing is I wanted to start a forum on the recent weather.

    Re: Ice Storm

I know this is coming late...

We lost power for 3 days.  The second day, all of our neighbors but us and one other had power, and when we called OG&E to ask when ours would be up, our service order had been cancelled because they showed the area was actually back on...not looking at individual homes.

We were lucky...our powerlines broke at the splice points...so we didn't have to pay an electrician to come out and rehook our service to the house.

We had HUGE limbs falling all over the place (don't EVER plant silver maples...just trust me on that one) and our pine tree in front broke clean in two.

Yes, it could have been much worse...our neighbor kept power all through it, but his meter was ripped from his home and 9 holes were punched into his roof so his damage was MUCH more costly than ours...so, for that, we are very thankful.

My biggest problem was that OG&E would not confirm whether our line was hot or not, so we could not reach our hens and roosters for 3 days...and one of our roosters almost languished because of it.

Now, don't get me wrong...OG&E deserves a HUGE pat on the back...they really did well for what they had thrown at them...God bless them, actually...I just mention what had happened in case this ever happens in the future...call your service company daily to make sure they didn't accidentally cancel your restore order thinking your whole area is fixed.
