THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!

If any of you know of ANY World War II veteran who has not seen the WWII Memorial in Washington, you must immediately let them know about Honor Flight Network. I just returned from being a Guardian on my father's Bluegrass Chapter Honor Flight trip to Washington. It was a wonderful experience for all of the Veterans, who not only got to see their Memorial, but also were treated to warm flag-waving receptions and kind words from complete strangers all day long. The trip is FREE for our Veterans and they are well-cared for, wheelchairs are provided if requested. Some of the Veterans were very capable of walking, others limited to varying degrees including being nearly dependent on a wheelchair; all were watched over and assisted by the volunteer Guardians and every need taken care of. Although I was a Guardian accompanying my father, I was also asked to assist and watch out for other Veterans on the trip so that all had a safe and enjoyable day. It was a moving experience for all and a wonderful experience. I spoke to several Veterans on our return home and they were all very moved and said it was a wonderful day. My father was particularly moved by the group of Cub Scouts who saluted him at the Memorial and asked him about his medals, and the little boy who asked him how he got his Purple Heart. The Veterans also get to share stories with others from the "band of brothers".

PLEASE INFORM any WWII VETERANS or their families of this wonderful opportunity for our heroes to see their Memorial. Our youngest WWII Heroes are in their 80's and are losing them too quickly! Most never received any recognition for their service and sacrifice and they certainly deserve it now! There are Honor Flight Network Chapters across the US. Below is a link to a short video, and also the link to the Honor Flight Network for more information.

http://honorflight.org/ Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. Now, with over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Honorflight.com and Honorflights.com are NOT associated with Honor Flight Network, Inc. (honorflight.org). The aforementioned sites are for companies that charge a fee for flights to visit the World War II Memorial. The flights and tours that Honor Flight Network provides World War II and terminally ill veterans are absolutely FREE.
