As webmaster and a long-time newsroom employee, I will personally make an effort to answer questions and reply to comments posted in this forum. While the station has no official ombudsman, I'll unofficially take a stab at that role as we try to establish this new line of communication with the public.

Why have the jails gotten so strick for visitors? The typical wait at least an hour if u come on time and the the people that work there treat you like ur in jail. But what really irks me is you are allowed not even a magazine or anything while u wait to support a loved one thats in jail. The jails seem to discourage visitors why else would they make you a visitor sit the a chair with no communication to the outside world, no drink nothing to eat no book u r to stair at a wall and wait to be called for hours!!! when i last went i just got off a 40 hour week and was informed very rudely that i wasnt allowed my purse where am i to put that? so in my car in goes i trudge back upstairs to sit and then was told no phone no magazine i look around at all the faces of forlorn and other emotions.. this is ridiculus!! We family members of those incarcerated should not have to go thru this what is the harm in a book to pass the long wait? we see love one thru glass anway.. Its long overdue for change and very unfair to those of us that do the right thing and are free.

I have a question. And maybe a story. We moved to ok a couple ofyears ago and I am confused about a law. If there is a law. We purchased a new car last year and had the title and taxes included in the lien. Which was normal for us where we came from.. We received 30 day tags. Within the 30 days we got regular tags. But I look around and I see MANY cars and trks with expired 30 day tags on them. Some are months expired. Is there a law that requires permanant tags to be put on a vehicle within these 30 days or can people just ride around for months without getting permanant tags.?

Will 2 news get the scoop on the layoffs in Vinita and Pryor? I noticed they were checking into it on one of the other stations but I don't see anything on this site. Labinal in Pryor and Cinch connectors in Vinita are both laying off employees. They are both owned or operated by the same company.

The Pryor plant I heard is moving to Mexico. Another plant bites the American dust for a home in old Mexico. How long can this continue? Mexico doesn't buy the products we do. Who will buy the products if we don't have jobs?

I live in Oklahoma City and came up for the Rascal Flatts concert last week. This was my first time at the BOK and I was very impressed. It's a beautiful building and the acoustics are fantastic. The seats are more comfortable than here in the Ford Center. It seems to me that now that we have the basketball team you in Tulsa are going to get some of the better concerts. I will be up again for the Celtic Thunder concert in November. Congrats to all of you for a job well done. I love our Ford Center, but I have a feeling I'm going to be coming up to Tulsa more often now.

OK I was watching the news and they said there's a new thing out that you could put on your babys carseat seatbelt and something on your keychain and then if you leave your baby in the car, once you get 20 -30 ft away that the thing on your keychain would go off. OK here's the thing how could you leave your baby in a hot car either at home or where ever. This is happening more and more these days. People forgetting or leaving babies unatteneded in cars or alone with dogs. This should be the most PRECIOUS thing in your life, now they have some gadget out to remind you nobody should have to remind you HEY did you get the baby out of the car? You didn't have that sort of thing when I was growing up and leaving babies/kids in hot cars all day until there dead. The parents should know better and if they didn't want the baby they shouldn't have had one. THERE'S NO EXCUSE PEOPLE!!!!

In my humble opinion, its about time for a thorough inspection of our County Commisioner. It seems everything she touches or is repsonsible for ends in controversey, or susiption of corruption. From Richard Roberts being sued over donations to her campaign, to the highly questionable relationship with the Murphy Brothers and practices of the Tulsa State Fair Grounds. She successfully removed Bells Amusement park from Tulsa.

Richard Roberts now is separated from the Oral Robetts University. Bells no longer pays it's rent to tulsa, which was millions of dollars each year, while Murphy Brothers Big Splash is allowed to go rent free with no payment. Now the former head of Expo Square is suing Randi Miller and Tulsa County, Claiming he was instructed by Randi Miller to keep Big Splash off of the Radar.

I don't understand why she kicked bells out, without replacing the income to the fairgrounds and the surrounding businesses. After losing millions of dollars to local business we find out that her friends get to go rent free on the fair grounds.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding Randi Miller, and I think we need to formally request the OSBI to look into everything that Randi Miller has touched.We need a stringent investigation of everything involved with the Tulsa Fair Grounds, the County Commissioner office, and all her relationships that are looking like they compromised her office and Tulsa County. I am making a call to everyone to send an email to the governor, the osbi, the Mayor to have Randi Miller investigated.

natural gas or electricity

We moved from Va to OK a couple of years ao. In the planning stages of building our home I decided, against the will of the builder, other builders and family to not have so much natural gas in our home. We do have a natural ga home heating system and a gas firelog fireplace (no chimney for efficiency). I eliminated the typical natural gas clothes dryer and I eliminated the natural gas water heater. In fact we do not have a ater heater in our home. We have an on demand water heating system. For 2 years now we have been more than pleased with these decisions. Last month (June and half of july) our electric bill was about $150.00 (air conditioning going 27/7) and our natural gas bill was about $11.00 (and that was minimum fees for zero use) . I anyone has a better system let me know. That is a system that will not take a 2nd mrtgage to get. What I have suggested will take probably less than $2000.00 to install. Now compare your high gas and electric bills with mine and see how long it will take to recoupe the initial investment. Hopefully this has been good advice for many to think about.

Every year in America, hundreds of thousands of people die while waiting for someone to donate needed organs.

People die in car crashes and from other accidents, and are buried along with their healthy organs.

Why not allow the reletatives of the accident victims sell the organs? This could help pay for the large medical bills and funeral expenses, and allow many people receive the organs they need to live.

Just allow the two parties to meet and agree on the terms. This would help all parties concerned.

Now, hardly anyone "gives" their organs. A few sign donor cards, etc, but still hundreds of thousands go un donated every year.

Are you in favor of allowing the hundreds of thousands die each year waiting for an organ?

Or are you in favor of allowing these priviate parties to agree to a transaction that would benifit both parties?

Four Day work week . . .

It seems like everyone is going for the four 10 hr work week. This is supposed to cut the consumption of gasoline.

I do not believe it will help at all. In fact, I think it will increase gasoline consumption.

What do you think all those people will do when they have three day weekends? They will go to the lakes, go on three day trips to visit reletatives, etc.

They probably will not stay at home and save on gasoline.

It will be like a "forever" three day weekends like the 4th of July weekend. Go and go and drive and spend more and more gasoline.

Its all a big political game to make everyone think they are doing something to conserve gasoline. It won't work.

People will be driving more than ever, and further than ever.

The companies and government agencies are only making assumptions, they have no facts that people will cut their gasoline consumption.

I don't believe it will curtail the consumption of gasoline at all.

Let's start a great big thank you letter to all the power line workers........

First of all, I was without electricity for 10 days, and while I have my share of frustrations with my company's management, let's not go there. If you are still without power, I share in your greif, but know this, the linemen working to get your power on deserve nothing but our praise. A lot of them have left their homes and families to come and help us out, and may even have to spend Christmas away from home to get our lights on. So please, let's all just give the workers a big thumbs up for their hard work!!

Tulsa Islamic center story

I was deeply moved and disturbed, but grateful for the airing of the story on the Tulsa Islamic center.
Unfortunately, I feel the story is more important than the follow up given to it. I have great admiration and also empathy for the man who dared air his inside view of the Islamic center; the community should be outraged and stand by this man.
The disturbing part is that this honest man, who obviously knows his religion, was threatened with grievous harm for "airing laundry" before "non-believers." It also leads me to believe that it is a good bet that subversive, intolerant teachings are being spread in our own back yard. It would not be an uncommon nor paranoid belief, as mosques the world over are proven sanctuaries for radical teaching and the distortion of Islamic teaching. I believe in tolerance, but I also believe that tolerance should be earned and acknowledged. To be persistantly tolerant of the intolerant is nothing less than stupidity. If, we as Americans and Tulsans are viewed by the majority of Muslims as "non-believers", then I must ask why they are in this country? I believe that this man's story should be listened to with a great seriousness and not forgotten. We as Americans can be too tolerant; too willing to ignore important signs, too willing to put our head in the sand and hope for a better tomorrow, but I'm afaraid that the definition of insanity is, "expecting different results from the same behavior". I pray for this man and applaud his courage. I hope his voice will not go unheeded.

This comes as an amendment to the sex offender law that takes effect Thursday.

After serving their sentence sex offenders are already required to register and have their face displayed online.

Lawmakers have voted to put sex offenders in categories, making the worst offenders unremovable.

For now all sex offenders are lumped into one group.

Soon there will levels 1 through 3, with 3 being the worst.

Instead of being registered for 10 years, the new law requires corresponding years.

Corrections officials have a point system based on the offenders conviction, that will help assign a level.

To check for sex offenders in your area you can log on to two different websites. The Tulsa Police and the Department of Corrections both have information to keep you informed. "

i believe that the Sex offender laws are a little too harsh for the lower level offenders. i have a friend whos only crime was to have intimate relations with a girl three years his junior. it happened in high school and her parents found a way to get him imprisoned for three months. now he has to be careful as to where he lives and what not.

i personally think that the new laws will be benificial for the offenders whos crimes are no worse that say high school love or relieving them sleves in the bushes on a road trip. and at the same time this law will make harsher punishments for those whos crimes are as horrible and terrible as the term sex offender sounds!

How do you feel about the new law?

also do you think that if someone is living in the proper place (according to sex offenders laws) that they should be forced to relocate if a park is built after the fact? expesually the lower level ones? or do you think that that should be saved for the pedifiles?
