I really take my hat off to you catgirl on the pictures you are able to capture. On Friday I get off early from work & was home about 1pm. I went outside for a cigarette & could hear blue jays squawking iin a tree in the backyard across the street. I was trying to see what they were yelling about & heard a high pitched sound of a hawk. This noise went back & forth for about 10 minutes. All of a sudden the hawk flew into the tree next door to me on the corner of Troost & 50th. I ran into the house to get the camera but of course by the time I found batteries, etc & came back outside it flew off to the north on Troost. The blue jays kept following & harrassing the poor thing so it stayed hidden in amongst the leaves. I watched it fly from tree to tree for about 2 hours & could never get where I could get a clear shot. It even ended up way up in the tree in my own backyard, then flew off again. I came back out front & was just about to the curb & the hawk flew towards the tree across the street, was just about to land, spotted me & took off in the other direction. Not sure, but figured it was probably one of the Perryman Ditch hawks. I guess with the weather finally cooling off they might begin to get more active. I didn't notice any activity within my area the rest of the weekend.
