Hawk88, I suspect the hawk you were seeing last year along HWY 51 and Garnett would not be Kay or Jay as that is pretty far East of where their range seems to be. I know RTH's tend to hang out along highways on top of posts looking for prey. I always wonder about all the people in cars whizzing past and never noticing them there.
If not for safety reasons I would shake them and say "Look, look, isn't that hawk beautiful!" But they rush by on their way, talking on cell phones and missing out. I do need a bumper sticker that says "I break for Hawk Watching" and more! I guess I'm dangerous too.
It is neat that you saw them hopping around on the tops of cars and on the ground. Kind of odd though. I hope you can get the pictures posted. It may be a relative!
