My name is JJ... I am da only one
The favored eaglet... I like to dodge da sun
The peeps like to view me.... from around da world
They can't even tell if I'm a boy or girl.
I have the best parents.... an eaglet can have
They spoil me rotten with coots 'n' rabbits...and never get mad
My parents built me a nest.... they made a big mound
I like to wiggle to the edge....with my new wing feathers hanging down
They feed me coot and carp..... snakes and bunny rabbits
I get my tummy so full at times, I just fall over and kinda Nap Zit
My daddy is my provider....he brings da biggest things
Mama can hunt for us too...but she lets daddy think he's king!!
For those who've come to know me... watch me grow and chat about
You can see that I am healthy, and growing pretty stout
My fluffy down is leaving me...which makes me very happy
For this can only mean one thing....soon I ‘ll be soaring with Mom and Daddy
Da Sutton site provides the cams… three cams last time I counted
But Oklahoma weather’s hard on them…. they may not now be mounted
EG and all his helpers….. will do the best they can
To get the cams back up & running…they know I’m such a HAM
All my favorite peeps are wondering…. just how big I am today
There’s Mama, Rubydo, CT , Kardsharp…. Walks, Af, Mac n’ more
Won’t they be surprised when they next see me ......I’m almost ready to fledge to da shore
It’s been a couple days now, I been look’n to da camera….
Peek-a boo… do you see me…Jolie ,Jilly, Wings and Sally?
Well here it is, we’re in ta May….. da cams they’re back and showing
All the peeps dat love me true to core, just how much I’m growing
My folks have rearranged da place, they want me to flap my wings
They took away da baby gate, the coots and other things
I am an Okie eaglet, raised up at Sooner Lake
And if you know our weather, you know da winds aren’t always straight
I’ve been very brave here lately…flapp’n my wings around da nest
I actually lifted up a bit… but Mom put me back in my place
These days here at da nest are numbered…I know this to be true
I do want to tell all da peeps out there…I will miss each & every one of you
Soon I’ll soar like an eagle …high on wings of grace
Flying through the Heavens ...where I can almost see God’s face
EG has been looking… at all my outer parts
He’s very, very intelligent…which means he’s pretty smart
He calculated measurements and based on what he knows
He says I am a girl… which just goes to show
It was my motherly instinct… perhaps dream’n of things to come
It’s the reason why I cuddled him; I loved lil’ Eggbert with all my heart
As it sometimes happens in nature, it wasn’t meant to be
I had no eaglet siblings, besides… WHO would have been cuter than ME???
I heard the peeps were betting …on just what day I’d fledge
They watch with anticipation…my practice jumps n’ hops took me to the edge
Then on the 16th of June…… a very early Tuesday morning
When most of my fans were sleeping….I took that faithful plunge
Then much to my surprise…I wasn’t sure just why
I actually was flying……my wings lifted me into the sky
They took me higher and higher…than I had ever been
This was the most wonderful feeling that I have ever had
It made me feel so grown up…and some of my peeps… well …they cried
There were tears mixed with emotions… tears of joy and sadness too
For they now knew I had made it, which was their wish for me to do.
I love my new found freedom…the view is so beautiful up here
I still depend on Mom and Dad… they are always very near
They will feed me for a while longer… I now hang out in a tree
I just want to squawk to the world…I am free… free… FREE!!!
For this is my purpose in life …to fly high and free
No human contact, no bands to be placed on me
Then one day when my head feathers turn white
I will find a mate of my own and maybe, just maybe then
I might return to this very site
