Hi gang :-) !!!

I am posting for the very first time in the capacity of a boots-on-the-ground report! ... Two sightings, by yours truly (and hubby) of Kay and Jay, in person on two separate occasions: The first one was at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 8th, as we were driving by the KJRH station with family on our way out for some dinner. The second occasion was at about 7:15 p.m. yesterday (Monday, May 11). On both occasions, both Kay and Jay were sitting on poles jutting out from the tower. The first time (5/8) they were on different poles, at different levels of the tower exterior. But yesterday, they were perched on the same pole, but a couple feet (about ???) apart from each other -- both facing south.

I must apologize for my lack of even looking at the computer at all lately... Back here on the left coast, my mom sprained her ankle in April, and then on May 4th she fell and broke her hip... Then she had surgery a couple days later... I was very busy through all of this. Anyway, hubby and I still went on our planned trip to OK, and left all of looking after Mom and her needs with my wonderful brother. I kept wishing I had your phone numbers while I was out there, but honestly we were so busy most of the time, anyway... But do know I was thinking of all of you ... And I am sending you my hugs through cyberspace now -- belatedly. - socal

We have missed you. I asked about you a while back and no one had heard from you. I am so sorry about your Mom. I know she didn't need that set back. I hope she recovers without any further complications. I know you are worried about her.

How exciting to see Kay and Jay in person! That would have been so much fun to connect with some of the Tulsa friends. I am glad you had a good trip.

Hi all been really busy the past few days and wanted to thank you all for your updates and pics! It is odd how clean the lone egg looks. Maybe it just a shell is why. I don't know.

I noticed Russell has changed the video to an outside shot of Kay and Jay on the antenna. Is that when you saw them Socal?? I was wondering if your trip was still planned. It is wonderful to hear you got to see Kay and Jay in person. I hope it was a thrill to you and your family. Probably not as much as getting to see your son though!!

We were in Tulsa most of the weekend at the new Spirit Bank Center. I saw a lot of geese flying around but no hawks. We were driving up Memorial Sun and there was a mom and dad goose with there group of about 5 little ones in the grass right on the side of the road!!! 

So sorry to hear about your mom Socal really hope and pray she will get well. Wonderful to hear from you keep in touch and please update us on your Mom!

Hi socal!  Great to hear from you and so cool that you got to see Kay and jay in person!  I hope you had a wonderful time with the family in Tulsa.  I understand how tough aging parent care can be, trying to help but alos trying to keep them independent as possible for as long as possible, at least in my case.  I hope your mother comes back strong from her surgery, make her exercise so she doesn't lose range of motion like my Dad did when he got lazy and sat around too much. Face down on the bed at least 30 minutes twice a day unless dr say otherwise!

Wow, Bville, if anyone should know about storms it would be you... did you and your cats survive the storms in the tub??? I was thinking about you as they reported 3"+ hail and 100mph winds in Bartlesville last night.

Hi, CamFan. The storm in my part of town wasn't as severe as in others, apparently; but yes, the felines and I (under protest by the former) did hang out in the bathroom for a while.

I'm so glad that you and others are still watching the Hawk Cam and posting on the Forum. We have to keep our eyes peeled and skills sharp so as to stay in shape for whatever Kay and Jay have in store. I really look forward to reading your Big Sit summary! Thank you for all the work it has entailed, interesting, though tedious it must have been at times.

For a tantalizing moment, my heart just now beat a littler faster as I caught a dark shape on the Hawk Cam, moving lazily across the Tulsa sky. Kay, Jay, Thunder!?! ....Alas, a mere insect, patrolling the camera lens. A minute or two, it rested. Then, gone. (Some bugs have a malicious sense of humor.)

But rest assured bville, the beloved hawks are around and you may still catch a glimpse of them circling by.  And a few more bugs too!
I am so thrilled that socal got to see them during her visit!  A few more on the ground reports as I was away for a week in nocal!  I wonder if bobdmac was on one of the sailboats enjoying a glorious sunny day as I crossed the Golden Gate bridge coming and going.

Today both Kay and Jay were preening, trying to dry out at the Mazzios tower at 11:45 am.
At 1 pm Kay was on an antenna at the nesting tower.

I drove by the station today at 2:30pm and there was Jay on the "goldenrod", just sitting facing North.

Hi forum friends!  Good to read the reports on our pair.  Camfan, I hope this is a labor of love as I am sure it is sooo time intensive!  Waiting with bated breath.....

I have seen Kay on the goldenrod the past two evenings.
Friday evening at 7 pm - with a full crop. 

And then this evening at 5:50 pm - again with a full crop!

I went on to WholeFoods and as I parked I could see a hawk circling off to the northwest.  When I came out 15 minutes later, there were no hawks on the KJRH tower.
