This has nothing to do with the Hawk Forum, but wanted to let ya all know, especially the local Tulsa people, that my oldest daughter is going to be on "Gimmie the Mike!"  It's Northeast Oklahoma's version of American Idol.  She was one of the top 20 chosen out of about 500 people back in April.  The show starts airing on Monday July 7th at 7pm CST & will be on every Monday nite thru Aug 11th with the finale on Aug 18th.  It's on the rival station to KJRH (GULP) which is channel 6 KOTV & CW 12/19.

My daughter's name is Sarah Hutchison & she will be on the 2nd week, July 14th.  Here is the link to the website with the try-outs & also the individual interviews.  I was at work the day of the TV interview, but I got to see it online.   Sarah's is the 9th one on the interview videos. http://www.newson6.com/global/Category.asp?c=128539

There are 5 finalists chosen by the judges, one each week, & the viewing audience will pick a "wild card" each week.  We have a lot of great talent in this area & I think you will enjoy watching.  Don't know if there is a way for out of area people to see the show or not, ya might look tomorrow when it is on & see if you can watch online.  They will have updates on the website I am sure as things progress.

tripsqkr: I am so excited for you (as the proud mama!) and for your daughter! How fantastic! You never know... This could be her "big break"! I don't think there's any way of seeing it out here in California, unless they do a webcast. I'll absolutely check it out. If you hear of one in the meantime, let us all know on this thread! 6:47 p.m.  Well tripsqkr, I tried to located a possible webcast for the show to no avail.  So, all I can say is I hope everybody in the immediately world of the "other station" is watching your daughter tonight... gee, starting in just a few minutes!!!  Drat.  I wish I could be watching with you!  Do let us all know how it went!  What about her posting her act on YouTube? for the rest of the world to enjoy?...  Just an idea  : )

I sent an email to KOTV about webcast, but unfortunately since they do not own the internet copyrights to the music used on the show they are not able to broadcast the show at all on their website.  Bummer for the out of area folks.  Sarah won't be on till next weeks show & we were asked not reveal the results until the show airs.  They taped all 5 shows last month, so we know the weekly winners, however there is a chance for everyone to still get into the finals because the viewers can vote each week for a "wild card" spot.  They will have a sing off of the wild card winners & the winner will join the 5 weekly winners in the finale on Aug 18th which will be aired live (not taped)

How exciting. She should do really well! I know you are SOOOO proud of her! I wish her the best of luck. Keep us posted, ok?

1:30am Sunday  Well the countdown begins.  We are having a "Watch Party" for Sarah at Lennie's Club at the Trade Winds East at Skelly (northside of I-44) & Harvard behind Johnnie's Grill on Monday from 6pm or thereabouts until the show airs between 7-7:30pm on channel 6.  If you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood, please stop by.   Lennie's is where Sarah sings quite a bit on Thursday's Karaoki Nite.  It's a nice little place connected to the hotel.  Will let ya all know how everything goes.  They will announce the winner on the 10pm news along with the wild card winner.

Let me add my best wishes for your daughter's performance. If I were to invoke a bird image in keeping with our avian theme, I guess it would be a nightingale (and surely not, in this case, Thunder!)

Thanks all of you for your best wishes & encouragement for Sarah.  We are all very excited about seeing "our baby girl" on TV.  It's at the Cain's Ballroom which is really cool too.  A lot of history there as the locals know.
