    socal:
tripsqkr, thanks!  re: your referral to this site:  http://crd.smugmug.com/Nature
There's a little something for everyone in that site!  Fantastic photographer.  I particularly enjoyed, besides the raptors, of course, the Roadrunner and Great Blue Heron.  We have both in our community, though I admit it's been a number of years since we've seen the Roadrunner out in the more rural areas of Vista.  I think there's been a little too much development over the years, and the poor dears' habitat has been encroached upon more and more.  Our lagoons and ponds around our area still have Great Blues and the Snowy Egrets that are so graceful...  Oh, and I thought of Observer when I saw the "Cars" portion of the site.  She has tons of car pics on her Flickr site. Observer, if you're reading this:  Check it out! Pretty cool!

Thank you socal I did check it out. I so enjoy seeing the grace and ease of the different birds in flight it is so peaceful then you look at the race cars at the Nascar race. We got a once in a lifetime chance to go to one of those races last year at Texas Motor Speedway. It was very exciting to be in such a huge place with all the people and to see a race live. It really gets your adrenaline flowing not to mention how loud it is.

Cars are our hobby we have a show car (the purple model T ) that we take to car shows on Sat.  and right now we are building a Promod race car for the drag strip!

On a more somber note we went to a memorial service yesterday for a dear friend who had cancer. He was a veteran and was buried in the Fort Gibson Military Cemetary.. It was a very nice small service with military honors. It was very touching they had all of his grandkids let red, white, and blue balloons loose to honor their grandad. Please keep his wife in your prayers. He was only 62 and they were together 24/7. It will be very hard on her.

I use Pbase..a pay site. Is Flicker free? My galleries are here   http://www.pbase.com/dixiern55/root

wings2c: I just perused your photo site. Wow!!! Such beautiful pictures! And your new home and yard are so beautiful! And what a lovely place Omro is! It looks like a wonderful community. Your pets are so adorable! The one of the two girls napping together, with one's arm and paw draped over the other is so precious... Also got a kick out of the itty bitty kitten's first bath.... Such an abundance of wildlife you've had the good fortune to live amidst, wings2c! Thank you for sharing this with us! I do hope you are healing quickly, and that the pain is being well managed. Hugs, socal

There is a nest cam on an osprey nest in Kentucky, the video isn't live but there are clips to view.  Osprey are such pretty and interesting birds.  The chicks looked so much like little reptilian scaly aliens when they were first born, great video of mom feeding them, and now they are near fledging.

    Enjoy!

Thank you socal that is very thoughtful and much appreciated.

On the "Great Rivers Energy bird cam" page the second falcon fell out of the nest yesterday. They have a picture posted of it sitting beside the nest box. The third one was standing on their heart attack ledge and flapping his wings earlier today. Here is the link:

Thanks for you comments on the pictures. Not professional, but special to me.

Observer, I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I know you will miss him. I lost my best friend, years ago, in a car accident. So, I know the sadness you feel. You are in my thoughts.

    HAPPY 4TH, EVERYONE

Bville: I love those Roach animations. I have almost all of hers. The birds are especially fun. Thunder seems to have gathered to her heart many of us who need special healing and uplifting.

Sally: Thank you for the osprey link! They are really great, clear, cam photos! Have you read the David Gessner / Fidel books on the osprey, nesting, migration? Not much on photos but chock full of fascinating information on these remarkable birds. That reptilian phase IS fascinating, isn't it!

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

Those smugmug photos are beautiful. Seeing the osprey photos there, especially the catch of that huge fish (bass?), reminded me that some of the hawk links which folks have shared recently, show the same carry phenomenon with hawks and osprey. The bird turns the catch head on to the direction of flight, be it a fish or a snake or a gopher, etc, aerodynamics in motion.

    8:36 p.m. Tulsa time. 6:36 p.m. here...
Hi you guys! Hope all of you are having a grand 4th of July! Happy Birthday U.S.A.!!!! And thank you to any of you who read this who are serving or have served our country! God bless you all!!!! I for one have been places that have made me love and appreciate my country more than I ever did before... and I did love it already!

Anyway... looks like no hawk sightings today from looking at the "Post Fledge" thread. And from the camera angle right now, it doesn't look too promising for fireworks watching either... Well, later, gang. Hugs to all...

p.s. to Catbird and wings2c... Thanks for your posts today! Good to know somebody was watching at some point! wings, so glad you're doing better!! Catbird, thanks for the bit about flying out with the fish, etc... very interesting! I always enjoy your input about various raptor behaviors. O.K.... Later! : )

Two down and none to go! It appears the last chick has left the falcon nest! Now what am I going to watch??? I don't see an updated post, so I guess they are all ok!
