    Mo' Mojo

Well I feel bad because I don't have any more photos to post at the moment but here's the latest on the Magic Karma Kit.

Through last weekend she continued to gain a little more energy, and by Sunday night she was playing (as posted previously).

Yesterday afternoon, she wandered out of her "safety zone" (our bedroom) and into the "real world" where the Cat Pack hangs out.

She made her presence felt by taking a few swipes at Cairo's tale, which is a little like tickling a bull -- probably not the safest plan. Cairo, who is the terror of all other cats, bolted like a startled gazelle.

Later in the evening, he decided he'd had enough with her uppity ways (as she deigned to show interest in a toy near where he lay) so he jumped up and grabbed her, giving her a nip on the back. Then he ran for it, knowing the Hand of Justice was about to swat him on the flanks. He did not escape unscathed :)

Interestingly, I woke up about 3:30 this morning to find Cairo and Mojo curled up together by my feet. She had literally snuggled right up next to him. I'm sure he knew she was there, so he was either resigned to her presence or (more likely) just too lazy to move his fat butt.

Now Cairo was found literally in a dog's jaws about 4 or 5 years ago. The dog had apparently "adopted" him for a couple of days, and in her eagerness she'd managed to lick a big bald patch on his side. He was all skin and bones, and still very small.

My wife, Maggie, with the Cat PackWe brought him home -- after a vet visit, of course -- and set him down, whereupon he looked around to find the largest cat around (Sam, since gone, who weighed about 27 pounds and wasn't all that fat, he was just HUGE). Cairo immediately attacked, and as mentioned above, has been the terror of all other cats since day one.

The irony is we now have this tiny girl who's markings are EERILY similar to his. She's the same color, chocolate brown, with white on her throat, chest and belly in patches, as well as white mittens, white whiskers, and little tufts of white in her ears.

I believe she's going to be his personal demon. Much deserved, may I add.

The cat who really seems to tolerate her the best (besides Gabrielle, who loves everyone) is Duchess. That's amazing, because Duchess HATES all other cats and fears all humans outside the family. Normally she won't let another cat within three feet of her unless everyone's sleeping on our bed (which is "base," no fighting allowed). I've seen Mojo walk right up to her and lick her on the head and Dutch doesn't even move. Her new name is "Granny Dutch."

The photo above is from a couple years ago, shortly after my wife broke her foot. Clockwise from left, Gabrielle, Delilah, Maggie, Duchess, Damien, Sam, and Cairo (he was still young and not so big yet). Sam was the largest yellow tabby I've ever seen. He and Delilah are no longer with us...

Maggie wrote me a few minutes ago to let me know Mojo had "laid an egg" in the living room and is now under house arrest. She's had some issues with finding cat boxes... and we have six of them :)

In the future I'll post some more about the Cat Pack. Each one's got quite a story...

    Peace my friends...

    Russell:
Great stories, and adorable family portrait... I do hope Maggie's foot is healed by now! Ouch. I have no idea how you guys find enough real estate left to sleep! Too funny and cute, that brood... Thanks again for the update! That mojo may indeed end up being the one to reckon with! And with regard to Duchess... she may sense that Mojo is still fragile and healing. Animals often have that extra sense about those things. Anyway... Good news is the best antidote to all the bad! Thanks again Russell! I look forward to more of your menagerie stories! EEEEKKK There's Thunder... to other thread now....

    Re: Mo' Mojo

It's great to hear Mojo has found her way with all in the family.

I will say OMG, 27lbs for a cat.  I thought my 18 pounder was big, and he is, long body and legs, but the vet (Dr. Danner) has him on "weight loss" food.

Have to laugh at Socal's comment about "real estate" to sleep!  Yes, with four cats myself, I turn my head into a cat, I left my legs to not overturn a cat, I rollover carefully to not mash a cat...Couldn't go to sleep without them.

Can't wait till you have more pictures.

Russell - Thanks for the update and picture.  So glad Mojo is doing well.  She is making her place in the family.  Your bed looks like ours, all cats and no room for people (we have five).  When they all get to purring it is really something, very relaxing.  When it is time to go to sleep you better get in a confortable position and stay there because moving to change positions upsets the whole apple cart!!  Fun Fun Fun.
