Some things just can't be stopped

About 250-300 years ago Native Americans began coming to the realization that nothing they ever did would stop the massive tide of immigration overwhelming the North American continent. They learned a lesson that cultures and civilizations have had to learn since man first began banding together en masse.

The lesson, simply stated, is that no force on earth can stop a mass migration of a human population.

Nothing, including dogs, fences, troops, high technology and all the bitterness the modern day "Know Nothings" can summon up will stop the migration of Latin Americans to the north.

The so-called "Minute Men," who truly don't seem to understand the irony of their organization's name, most certainly has not, nor will it ever, stem the tide of illegal immigration.

So my question becomes, why do they try so hard? The answer, I confess, argues their case well. The massive amount of illegal aliens drains our medical resources, driving the prices up for all of us. The fact that they drive without licenses and insurance poses a public safety problem. Some argue that they also have a tendency toward crime, but I don't buy into that argument.

I base this opinion largely on personal experience. I have lived among illegal aliens in their own neighborhood and have gotten to know many of them well. My Spanish is terrible but they tried hard to communicate with me -- in English. The argument that they don't want to speak English is another absurdity.

I also think that these people, by and large, work very hard and have solid family lives. That kind of work ethic and stability has largely gone missing in the white middle class. Their movement here constitutes a massive injection of fresh blood which the U.S. has needed for decades.

Okay two more points. One: The people who leave their homes and come here have the guts to get off of their butts and do something. Two: This country was founded -- and has repeatedly profited by -- preceding waves of immigration. A lot of those people waving signs about keeping illegals out have forgotten that their grandparents or great grandparents likely came under similar circumstances.

K this turned into a really long rant but it's fun to be the first poster in a forum :)

Re: Some things just can't be stopped

yes they can be stopped and it would be really simple to do so...enforce our borders with a mile wide kill zone and shoot anything that moves. letting them rot in the sun and those coming after them will finally get the hint and stay out or decide to follow our laws and apply for legal immagration.

i have many friends who legally came to this country who i would wilingly lay my life down for thier and everyone elses freedom, but id rather burn in hell before id die for illegals.

those that are already here demanding equal rights and priviligies need to step up and feed the tree of libery with thiers and thier childrens blood the same way our families have done for generations.if they would do that then they should be recognized as citicens of the United States of America.

but i doubt the cowards do it or they would have already fixed thier own country instead of running from thier problems and living illegally here.

Re: Some things just can't be stopped

I agree with most of what has been said.  Illegal is illegal.  Why should we bend over backwards at this time for all these illegals, when in the past, anyone coming into this country had to follow certain rules and regulations to become LEGAL citizens?  That wouldn't be fair, would it?  They don't deserve equal rights since they didn't fight for our rights from the beginning.  If they really want to be here, I say, send them over to Iraq so they can prove to us that they really want to experience the American way of life.  But then, they didn't stand up to their own President, and came here, which makes them cowards.  I also live among many illegals.  Yes, some have jobs.  Yes, I see children and pregnant woman all the time.  Yes, I see too many living under one roof.  Yes, I see many of these families in the ER getting better attention than those of us who have insurance.  Yes, I see crime.  All kinds of crime by the way.  And NO, they absolutely do not try to speak English.  And NO, they do not stop when an accident has occured.  How many times have we heard on the news about the crimes they have commited.  Hardly ever, do we hear about the good they have done here.  I say, build the fence, close the border, and send them all back.  I don't care if their kids are legal or not.  They knew when they got here that they were doing something illegal and shouldn't have brought their kids into that kind of life.  But that's the bottom line, they don't think.  I'm tired of my government kissing their behinds.  We need to stand up for our rights, that WE fought for and say, GO BACK.  TAKE CARE OF THE MESS YOU MADE IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY BEFORE YOU COME TO MY COUNTRY!!!!!!!!

Re: Some things just can't be stopped

Wow its amazing what people say, statements they over hear, and or comments without no sources! I once was an illegal immigant; my parents brought me over when I was an infant, But like most crimes we had to pay a big fee! but at the same time immigration wasnt as out of hand like it is now and days! I first beecame a Permanent Resident and after we apply for Citizenship whitch was granted to us by the state of California. Like most Families we moved to Tulsa over a decade ago, I grew up here, elementary, middle and High school here, now currently working on my Batchelor's degree( off topic) anyway my reason for speaking out much like today was due to the fact that most people automatically think of Illegal immigrants as rule braking, care-less, individuals! but heres a few facts that people might not know or refuse to believe! Ok lets not go to far,.. TAXES, ..people say Immigrants dont pay taxes! ok when people say that they mean construction workers right!? but how about the MILLIONS of Immigants employed by Mc Donald's, cleanning crews, and almost every Factory, that recieve checks, all taxes removed from each and every check; Wich they dont claime, while everyone else gets there Tax  return! so if you want to say that they dont pay taxes, estemate the immigrants that dont pay taxes to the people that have problems with the IRS, and you'll be amazed at the numbers!; And as usual some one in this forum sed that they should go to Iraq to prove themselves! Well the cold reality is that they are, theres a large amout of illegal immigants in the armed forces! fighting for our freedom, Proving  worthy of calling themselves AMERICANS! but unfortunally we never hear those stories! My sources of saying this is that I have family and friends, both illegal and Legal in the ARMY, NAVY, MARINES, and Ive seen them depart to Afghanistang, and Iraq with a large number of Hispanics! especially in California!  They have seen many of them fall in battle, and many recieve the Purple Heart, as well as the gold star! and surprisingly... illegal! So even thoe many dont like Jose or Pablo,(you know those people building your house, building roads, or making your food,) many dont realize that Juan, and Enrique are taking a bullet for our Flag!

    Dreamcatcher:

You have a point this is a similar situation, one difference that catches me though is the fact that some of these people could very easily be terrorists. People coming over not to get out of their country but to destroy ours. Back in the days you posted about they didn't have weapons that could level an entire city with little or no effort, and if illegal immigrants can get in here, i'm sure they're not the only ones. Simply put, I think it should be strictly enforced. If those people would put as much effort as they do getting here illegally, as they could in a job they would be here in no time LEGALLY. There are many true points in this forum, there are illegal immigrants who are trying to prove themselves. There are also the ones who commit crimes and get away with it. It goes either way, but if people are willing to prove it, prove it in your own country and come here legally.

The large mass of immigration that was seen several hundred years ago was one that was needed to establish a nation. Today this is not the case! This is a nation and it's a nation of laws. There is a way to get into this country "legally"!!! I understand it's a long procedure, but that can be rectified. The fact that you say illegals have strong families, good work ethics, etc does not give them the right to break our laws. Those attributes would suggest to me that they would be law abiding citizens, however that doesn't seem to be the case. Come into this country legally or don't come in at all!

Re: Some things just can't be stopped

Todays alien invaders (they are not immigrants!) want to take over America!

    DREAM on!

Behind the respectable front of the National Council of La Raza lies the real agenda of the La Raza movement. This radical agenda, pushed by secondary groups contains the reasons behind the demonstrations and the strong lobbying efforts in our communities.

Key among those secondary groups is the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Astlan (MEChA). MEChA seeks to carve a racist nation out of the American West. MEChA opposes assimilation into American society. MEChA is a leader in the effort to "Reconquista" or reconquest our western states.

MEChA's founding principles state: "In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny... Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and no to the foreign Europeans...
"For La Raza to do. Fuera de la Raza nada."

That closing two-sentence motto is chilling to everyone who values equal rights for all. It says:
"For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing."

These words don't come from a fringe radical element. These come straight from the official MEChA sites at Georgetown University, the University of Texas, UCLA, University of Michigan, University of Oregon, and many other colleges and universities around the country.

Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, founder of La Raza Unida Party, Director of "Movimiento Latino USA de Los Angeles", has proudly said: “We have an aging white America… .  They are dying… .  They are ******** in their pants with fear! I love it!” He then demands: “We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him.”

"La Raza" stands behind Bill Richardson for US president"
    http://www.aztlan.net/richardson_for_president.htm
BILL RICHARDSON, former U.S. Congressman, U.N. Ambassador, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and currently Governor of New Mexico and Presidential candidate  is against building the US/Mexico border barrier, is for giving amnesty to undocumented Mexican workers and recently met with the new president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, to discuss issues of mutual concern.
"Even if he does not win, he will be in great position to negotiate with the victorious nominee, whether it be Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or one of the many other Democratic candidates."

    Richardson:
"There are changing political times where our basic foundations and programs are being attacked, illegal and legal immigration are being unfairly attacked."

CLINTON AND OBAMA VOTE FOR AMNESTY (ONCE AGAIN)

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) today released the following statement on the Senate’s failure to move forward to consider the DREAM Act (S.2205), which would provide undocumented children the opportunity to pursue higher education or serve in our military, and eventually become legalized citizens:
“We need comprehensive immigration reform in this country, reform that promotes our national and economic security and creates a pathway to earned citizenship for the 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country"....."I will continue to work with Senators Durbin, Hagel, Lugar and Kennedy on this issue, and will fight to bring this legislation back for another vote as soon as possible.”

Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act

"The DREAM Act, which I have proudly cosponsored for several years, would help expand opportunities for our nation’s immigrant children. For those students who have grown up in the United States, have demonstrated good moral character, and are pursuing a college education or have enlisted in the military, the DREAM Act will provide an opportunity to earn legal status in this country." “I am disappointed that the Senate failed to pass the DREAM Act. The enactment of this legislation is long overdue, and I will continue to fight for its passage, for all of our children and our nation.”

With NO REGARD TO AMERICAN CHILDREN or the fact that the CHAIN MIGRATION created by these amnestied "children" will over run our country with illegal invaders!
    Clinton + Obama= Amnesty!
