Hi all.  Just got this link today, gorgeous pics of a dark western redtail bringing in various desert creatures to an urban nest, I don't know where.  Particularly like the rattlesnake...

Sally, I agree those are fantastic. Some of the most beautifully detailed action photos I've seen.

Hah! Thanks, Observer, but I'm no fool.  I know it takes way more than that to keep the women happy.

For followers of the little Dutch owls' story, here is tonight's photo of a potential sub-lessee, a Dutch dove (?)

That's funny, Bville. Some doves also tried to move into the Dutch kestrels' nest box just after they fledged. One of the kestrels came back, however, and they left in a hurry.

Bville:  That dove looks like they're not sure about staying... head out the door looking at the neighborhood, wondering if anybody plays loud music too late at night...

UPDATE:  Apparently there is now nestbuilding underway in the entry hallway.

Found the website to a photographer in Arizona.  This guy has some awesome pictures of all kinds of animals & several relating to hawks & other birds.  Thought you all might enjoy them.

tripsqkr, thanks!  re: your referral to this site:  http://crd.smugmug.com/Nature
There's a little something for everyone in that site!  Fantastic photographer.  I particularly enjoyed, besides the raptors, of course, the Roadrunner and Great Blue Heron.  We have both in our community, though I admit it's been a number of years since we've seen the Roadrunner out in the more rural areas of Vista.  I think there's been a little too much development over the years, and the poor dears' habitat has been encroached upon more and more.  Our lagoons and ponds around our area still have Great Blues and the Snowy Egrets that are so graceful...  Oh, and I thought of Observer when I saw the "Cars" portion of the site.  She has tons of car pics on her Flickr site. Observer, if you're reading this:  Check it out! Pretty cool!

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

Bobdmac: Yes, like that. I've been studying on it--the posture, I mean. Maybe it's just a fancied "statement" there in the push-back against the earth (since physics dictates that the wings gotta do what they gotta do anyway, in order to get the bird where it's gotta go). Since the mantling and brooding/shading postures are also appealing, maybe those are more plausible statements--of ownership. Then again, maybe I'm just giving this too much thought. Anyway, for probably an unrelated reason, I like this Patch photo, too

The Patch collection was something else. Very hard to pick favorites, but it would be an enjoyable exercise in indecision. What a population of gophers that park must have fostered. Thanks for that link. One of these days I'll work my way through that other massive one with the entertaining captions.

bobdmac... how do you find all these incredible photos?  That one is just "FIERCE!" as the younger generation now puts it.  Another of one from that series that I found amusing is this one.

Oh, and thanks for the p.m.  I sent you a reply.
