    Observer:

...Were you ever taught the saying" Birdie birdie in the sky"?  I wonder if they are aiming to do that??

Thanks for making me laugh! Smile

I'm not sure exactly how far they are from fledging, Bville, but I know that one of the San Jose peregrines fledged when it still had a little bit of that white mohawk 'do.

Hey, I think one just fledged, and I missed it! I only see two in the box.

Bobdmac I was wondering the same thing but was afraid to ask. There were three when I got up and now all I see are 2.they were both looking down over the edge and one keeps flapping his wings.

Yes it ends with I'm sure glad that cows (or pigs)don't fly!

    Boy they started screaming!

Ay, caramba! Last time I looked, I first thought two, then it looked like one was huddled behind another in the close foreground, with the third further away. Don't know now when that first little guy geronimoed. And #2 seemed to have it on his mind for a bit there.
    Oh, is that "pancaking" now?

Observer, earlier you saw one almost knock another off the ledge. Maybe that happened here and one accidentally fledged? Whatever the case, the other two are zonked now.

Mystery solved. I rewound the video and saw the one farthest from the camera, at the very corner of the ledge depart. It looked unintentional, as if it lost its balance when it stretched its wings. I'll put up a screen shot of it in a couple of minutes.

It was funny they both started screaming and then stopped I could hear one that sounded like an adult off in the distance then the 2 screamed again the one furtherest from us just dropped and layed down. The one closet looked out for a bit the turned around and layed dow up next to the other one. It was like they were told to hide. I could hear like a boat horn sounding and they layed real still and quite. After the noise quit the started moving around again.

Yes, they're definitely pancaked, or they were a moment ago.

Thanks bobdmac how did you get it to rewind? Are you recording it? I was afraid that would happen!

Bummer. Kind of like what happened to Thunder on that first, apparently accidental trip down the tower a ways? A lot farther to "fall" here, but I assume its wings are maybe strong enough to help it glide? This type of thing probably happens all the time.

I rewound it in my Quicktime player. Unfortunately, I need Quicktime Pro to save it as a clip. Here are the screenshots:

    You all right down there?

Here comes Mom, a short time later

All right, where did he go?

Their wings seem pretty well developed. I think it's just their skills that are lacking. A few minutes later, I definitely heard two peregrines in the distance.

Excellent series, thanks! Having Mom on her next arrival really extends the narrative. Wonder if the student pilot who accidentally soloed was Mr/Ms Sassy Camera Face of recent memory.

No, the attitudinous one has the most flecks of down on its wings. The one that fledged had the least. I rewound the video quite a ways back, and the one that fledged is the one that had the other by the tail. I'll put up a still or two of that in a few minutes.
