wbt1966: I just spotted Thunder at the bottom of the KJRH radar tower. Here is a picture. She has a long way to go to get back to the top!

she is just above the roof of the building at the BOTTOM of the tower.

I can see the power lines in both pictures, to tell where she was.

In the picure of the tower, it looks so rural, instead of midtown Tulsa.

Your welcome HLC I thought it would help also to gain perspectives for those not familiar with the area.  Walks, downtown Tulsa is about 3 or 4 miles to the north of KJRH.  The station is on Peoria in what we call the Brookside area. Peoria in that area has lots of restaurants, cafes, specialty shops etc. Speed limit in that section is about 30mph.  On the east & west sides of Peoria, it is residential area with quiet side streets.  Very low key by most standards.

Some people have referred to Thurder's current location as a dish at the base of the tower.  Is that what was said on the news this morning?  Studying WBT's two photos, it looks to me like he is actually on the top of those circular things that go around the bottom of the tower--or at least that that's where he was when that photo was taken.

The following were taken on 5-18-08, last Sunday.  I copied them over from the Photo Galleries page on KJRH in case you all didn't see these.

Attached are three pictures taken Sunday afternoon.  My husband and I have been following the redtail hawks on your live cam since before Thunder hatched.  We have been fascinated with this event.  Sunday afternoon we drove to the station and parked across the street and watched with our field glasses and took numerous pictures.  Because it is so far up, we had to use digital zoom and the pictures are grainy, but we still got some good shots.

 

The two adults were sitting on a bar that juts out below the nesting platform.  This explains why we have seen Thunder looking down through the grates of the platform so much.  Kay and Jay were very attentive all afternoon and stayed close by much of the time. 

 

Thank so much for the live camera and all the work of KJRH employees to bring us this incredible journey!

I am confused to. I thought she was on or in that dish on the flat roof but now I begin to think she is on the rings at the base of the tower. Several people have used the word dish, so my eye went to the dish. Maybe they meant disc? Could someone who knows put a dot or arrow on that glorious tower picture that was taken - I think last night? Do we know if she is moving from place to place or staying put? I also wondered if her mom yelled to her "freeze" when the pictures were taken.

I didn't take the pics, they were sent in to the station by one of Thunder's watchers.  I especially love the one of Thunder practicing lift with full wing span.
