I have been observing for quite sometime...since Thunder was just an egg. Yet, I have yet to post. I wanted to say what wonderful shots. Thank you for sharing. Amazaing how this little hawk family has affected so many.

More caps from recent days during observations.

It was about dawn. In some of the shots there is a glare bouncing off of a car windshield (I think that is what it was). So probably about 6 AM. By that time my brain was completely bleary, having been up nearly 20 hours straight. I was making a few observation posts around that time so you can check them for exact time if you need it for asking Russell to find and encode the terrifying dance of death. Mostly I was riveted to the full screen mode and my finger on the F12 button, firing off an entire desktop full of shots. Most I deleted. That is the kind of photography I do. Take a lot of shots, burn a lot of film (in the days of film) and cull, cull, cull. :-)

Now I really really am going to bed. No doubt about it...this fledgling is addictive, but I need my sleep. :-))

Thanks, Catbird. That's the great thing about digital photography. You can snap with total impunity. I just bought a digital slr myself, and I take full advantage of the electron-recycling opportunities.

By the way, those are absolutely spectacular photos at the Pale Male site, aren't they?

Thank you SO MUCH for these awesome photos.  I was out of town yesteday, and missed the whole day.  I was having "withdrawals" from watching Thunder.  :)   Sure am going to miss that little bird now that she's "flown the coop".
