For the "empty nest syndrome" we are about to experience

Once our Thunder fledges I found another website that we can keep an eye on.  It doesn't have the detailed threads like we have had with KJRH's terrific website, but it is a live cam of a Peregrine Falcon pair that have been coming to the same nesting site since 2001 at a powerplant in Waukegan, Illinois.  It is at the Midwest Generation Power Plant & they have built a huge wooden box for them to nest in.  I think there are four babies now which began hatching on May 7th.  Thought it might be cool to watch this one as well once Thunder leaves the nest.

What a thoughtful idea for you to share the site.  I know we are very near to the fledge.  You can see it and feel when you see Thunder so big and strong standing on the edge of that nest.  What an adventure we have shared.

Thanks. I went through terrible empty nest syndrome when my only son left last year. Horrible. This will certainly be bittersweet. I seem to be more excited for Thunder than I was for my Son. Smile I just hope it is successful. Will think positive thoughts for this little one and hope he survives the tough first year that birds have to make it through.

I watched the falcons last spring.  She had three babies that time.  The really get up close to the camera.  They seem to be curious as to what it is.  One time they gave a shot of how high it was from the air.  Must have been a news helicopter or something. You could see the box they built and just where it was on the building.  I have been watching since she laid those eggs.  Couldn't believe there are four of them.  She will be kept busy that's for sure and they are so cute!  Tune in.  They have lots of space to walk around. You can post a message.  Maybe we can start something there.   We will miss Thunder.  He's been a joy to watch.

Thanks so much for the Falcon website...I love technology!!  And how true it is that so many of us will be experiencing the empty nest syndrome!  I work in the Crow Creek Offices on Peoria, a short distance away from our Thunder...and am hoping to see her first flight with my own eyes!  I see Kay and Jay every day soaring and looking for food.  One day Jay was being bullied while sitting on a telephone pole by several small birds to stay away from their territory.  The animal kingdom is so facinating to watch!
