    Re: Observation Thread

Kay in with more food for Thunder, he'll have a full crop after this meal. It's great to see her being still attentive to her growing offspring, way to go Mama!!

15:45 - Kay is at 3 feeding Thunder who is standing in the middle of the nest. Prey looks like a small bird.

    Re: Observation Thread

18:07 - H perched on rail at 5 facing 5 but looking around.

camera pans in for a close up of face.

18:17 - H perched on right foot on rail at 5 but now facing 7.  Left foot is tucked up under feathers.  He brought it out briefly but then tucked it away again.

    Re: Observation Thread

18:05 Standing on rail in front of camera. Was just flapping and jumping around nest area. Holds wings extended for longer periods of time. It is, as if, it enjoys feeling the wind under it's wings.

18:07 Lifting left foot, and putting it back down again.

    18:09 Calling/yawing again, twice in a row

18:13 Great close up shots of H. Cere pale yellow. Nictating membrane seen when blinking

18:18: standing on left leg preening

    Re: Observation Thread

18:50 Thunder at 6 facing camera.  He sure seems to be watching something.  He turns his head as if to follow something.  I wonder if the adults are soaring near him.  He is extremely interested and watching back and forth and focused away from the nest area.

18:55 Now he is looking up and following something around ; he turns his head 180' to follow something.  He is standing on his left foot again.

    Re: Observation Thread

19:50 - Thunder on railing at 6 facing camera.  Kay is on the 12 edge of the platform outside of the nest area.  They are looking at each other.  Thunder jumps down to the railing at 9, they are still looking at each other.  Maybe Kay came in to roost on the railing at 6 and Thunder was already there.  Kay spent the night on the railing at 6 last night.

20:05 - Kay flies away toward 7. Thunder in nest facing 9, watches Kay as she files off.  Thunder is following her with his eyes.

    Re: Observation Thread

7.50.p.m. parent joins keeps Thunder company. Parent looks small compared to Thunder, obviously cause parent further back on deck area. Thunder looking directly towards parent. Head movements gives impression of  I'll be flying soon.  Thunder walks over to be closer to parent, I think this is one of these Father and Hawklet moments.

    Re: Observation Thread

20:11 Flapping and jumping rail to rail...following same routine as the last 8 hours I have been hereSleep

20:13 Showing its strength..jumped from rail at 10:00 to rail in front of camera. Attempts to turn around and slips into nest. Back up to rail at 9:00 facing 3:00 then to rail in front of camera. I am tired just watching H and trying to keep up.

20:15 Steps onto platform facing out the back then back to rail at 10:00. Jumps to rail in area I have not seen H do before...to left of camera at about 4:00 to 5:00. Out of sight

20:17 Nope back to platform. Huh?

    Re: Observation Thread

20:17 - After Kay flew away Thunder has been jumping from 3 to 9 to 6, back and forth.  She has gone off on to the edge of the platform and "flown" back to 9 then back to 3, out of camera range and back to 9.  Very active.  I was watching her on the railing at 9 and something came to mind, she looks like a gymnast trying to master the balance beam.

    Re: Observation Thread

Parent flew off a few minutes ago. Thunder exercising those wings, parents has Thunder prancing around with delight, this is absolutely amazing!!  Finally took a breather and is standing towards satellite dish, enyoying the view.

    Re: Observation Thread

20:45 Kay on rail at 7; Thunder in nest bowl.  Tomorrow could really be the day as active as Thunder was this afternoon.  He was spreading those wings and jumping from post to post and then sitting there watching.  Just about 7:46 he was watching and turned his head around focused on something and then Kay landed so I know he was watching her fly around the tower.

    Re: Observation Thread

00:25 - F perched on rail at 6 facing 5, awake.  Scratches head with right foot.  H in nest, sitting, I think, at 3.

00:33 - F in same position.  H raises head and looks toward 3.

    Re: Observation Thread

1:01, 62, mostly clear with wind SE at 2 MPH.

Adult asleep on rail with body (chest) facing 6 close to camera.

Adult's head is tucked back over left shoulder.

Thunder was awake, mostly hidden behind A.

He is standing and preening a little behind A. The left front side of his body visible, facing 9:00.

His head is a little dropped toward his chest and his eyes are closed now.

1:16 I think he has laid down behind A.
