Thunder hops down to the nest bowl. Only partially visible. No camera pan yet. Some hopping and flapping. Now off camera at 3.

    KJRH Webmaster:

This was fun. I went up on the roof to see if I could hear T calling... and sure enough, it was quite audible. So I went downstairs to recruit a volunteer photographer and we went back up to see if we could get some "nats." (Lingo for "natural" or "wild" sound, as opposed to studio-recorded audio.)

Anyway, we got up there and couldn't hear anything, but there's Kay standing on "heart attack rail" and watching us intently. As the camera operator's trying to set up his tripod (we're standing in about 2 inches of water from the heavy rain) Kay screams at us... then flies to the north, giving us one more healthy scream as she flies over. Alas, no tape in the camera yet!

We watched her disappear to the north, and turn around to see Jay up on the goldenrod. He's just sitting there, not concerned about our presence at all.

We'll try again to see if we can get some nats of our hawk family... no promises, but I'd love to have it for our video collection.

BTW someone (socal?) wondered if we could create a DVD of all the clips and offer it for sale. In reality, we have very little video tape. Most of what you see online was live captures, and when we do use tapes they get recycled because we're a news station.

However, I believe I can make ALL the video clips available on line permanently, so they'll always be accessible to everyone -- and at no cost.

Okay I really have to get some work done so I'll leave you guys to it...

Thanks Russell, that was me the asked about the DVD.  You are the best!!!  I can't wait to return to Tulsa on Monday.  Off to Newport Beach, CA today.  I'll check in later.

Same position, only a few fluttering feathers visible. Camera pans now. Thunder at left at 9 on platform, back to edge. Peering down through grate off and on. Some calling. Some neck-craning and head-cocking.

Back to nest bowl, almost off camera. Commotion in the nest. Thunder mantling, vocalizing. Appears to  have been a food drop. Her back is to camera, obscuring the object of her attentions. Yes, she seems to be eating.

12:52 - I agree Bville.  She seems to have all the motions of eating

Chowing down with enthusiasm, but head is just off camera to the right. No view of parent during this food drop. No clue as to what the prey is.

Came "up for air" for a bit. Same position, right side to camera, looking around. Resumes picking at food.

Nest bar obscures what is left of the prey. Thunder is one hungry little hawk! Really going at it.

13:08 - Bville, is that the third time Kay and Jay have brought something for her since this moring?

    Re: Post-fledge observations

1:07 It looks like she is feeding now. Her head is going up and down. Must have been a food drop.
