Bville: You always make me smile. I never even heard of those whatchamacallit hawks either. (grin) But the lovely ethereal magical leukistic hawks! Isn't nature just always so infinitely amazing!

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects
Hey, Catbird....love these avian adventures! By the way, that creaking you hear waaay up there in Illinois is the sound of Pandora's Box opening down here in Oklahoma (Our dear friend in NY is responsible for this, and I just couldn't leave well enough alone.) Anywho , the dreaded Krider's Hawks are "a color form of Eastern Redtailed hawks that is restricted as a breeder to the northern prairie region and winters to the south of that." "Krider's are really washed-out Red-tails with much white on the head, back, and wing coverts, pale tails, and reduced contrast of the patagial mark. Adults do not show any dark belly or side markings, have washed-out tails of similar pattern to 'normal' eastern Red-tails, and very pale heads. Juveniles show just a little dark spotting on the sides and vitrtually white heads."
I didn't list the link for this cited website because every time I tried to include it, the computer inserted a bunch of computer-ese. But you can go to the following site for much more info and for the listing of the other site in question (which will include the following: listserv.arizona.edu): Go to this site first: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Wild-Animals-705/strange-colored-hawk.htm

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects
Great video, sallyls! There's nothing like a window on nature at its most spectacular to give a person some relief during challenging times. So I'm offering up another one I ran across tonight--it even has some raptors in it! It starts with a group of photos of "Animal Eyes," then progresses through ever-more appealing sets of images--a string of feel-good shots that certainly made me feel good (or at least, better) at the end of a long, hard newsday. Enjoy! http://www.pixcetera.com/pixcetera/animal-eyes/37987

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects
Oh Bville... just in time for me, too. Thank you! Those photos are simply breathtaking. One of my favorites outside of the Award Winning category is: "Sunken Garden, Butchart Gardens, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada by Charles Needle, Alpharetta, Georgia"
AND:
(Of the Award Winning group):
Winner: "Landscape - Fly Geyser, Fly Ranch, Black Rock Desert, Nevada"
AND:
"Winner: Animal Antics - Red Fox, Yellowstone National Park, Wyo."... Although, I LOVED them all!!!...Great rx after all the news of late... that, and an invigorating bicycle ride -- my main "flight" into meditation of late!. Yesterday I had to go down to the Hillcrest area of San Diego for an appointment, so on impulse, before leaving home, I loaded my bicycle and helmet to go along... I was so glad I did! I pulled off along the coast on my way back to north county, and treated myself to a ride... It was manna from heaven to "fly" along on my wheels (aka "wings") with the ocean breeze filling both my lungs and my soul, watching the waves, surfers, gulls, pelicans and sunlight dancing on the water. We need these activities / experiences, especially when life presents its challenges... And we need each other to remind us of the same. Thanks again, Bville! And Sallyls! ... for more soul-filling moments, soothing and healing, both. Hugs. - socal
p.s. - Off topic (sorry)... I'm staying home today to watch Honey. She's back to seizuring. Doc says to up her dose, and to watch her. Right now, she's sleeping and seems fine. I feel she's going to be better... At least I'm hoping. Doc says she was at the lower end of the dosing for her weight before... So we'll see.

Bville: Love the baby ducks! the one on that first link cracked me up -- looked like me chasing my hat across the yard on a windy day, flapping and quacking madly. I am sending both your links home to enjoy after work at 2 PM. Yawwnnnn. Thank goodness you and Socal are holding down the forum!
