Catgirl-Great shot of them on the tower!  It is so reassuring for their continued nesting on the tower next year, and of course of their overal well-being! Fantastic!!!!

I hope maybe you and Gunit and Workaholic might be able to report on the other Tulsa RT's as well-I wonder if perhaps Thunder is still around?

    Thanks for the video Bob

Bobdmac : Catgirl, I just can't get enough of those photos. I love the long shot of the tower, where you can see kay on one rod and Jay on the other. And on the smaller photo, is that a small bird right in front of the dish that's captured our hawk's attention?

--Looks like that perky little kestrel we saw last year and this spring!  Definitely falcon wings!

8:21 a.m. cam zooms in from dowtown to eggs, still sitting pretty all alone, then pans out and around the tower environs looking for perched hawks but none seen at the moment. Thanks KJRH for loooking!

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

Just as I finished putting these pictures together  I looked up to see both hawks in the nest on the hawk cam. They didn't stay long, but they're really hanging about the nest a LOT. Seems strange, since they have no real reason to be there and we don't see them that much in the "off season," i.e. when they're not brooding or raising eyases. Anyway, here's my contribution:

I got to work this morning about 0800 and saw this from the ground...

Zoom in a little bit, yup! Definitely a hawk...

So I got up on the roof to get a better angle... no telling if that tail's red -- or brown

    Outstanding, Russell. Thank you!
Captures from the 9:22 tandem visit
    Jay arrives first

    then Kay

They briefly inspect the nest bowl.

Kay watches Jay leave, 9:24. She then adjusts a stick or two...

...and then she flies up to bar, top left--talons and tail visible

Edit: After reviewing bob's video, I've clarified that it was Kay who fussed briefly with the sticks. Jay merely flew in, sat a few moments, and then left.

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

Yeah Russell!   Probably a bit ago when I was rebooting cause I picked up an annoying virus popup, probably from the chat...you know how that goes! Wonderful shots-I say it is Kay, and isn't there a second hawk further up on the opposite side in that picture? I swear I see a glint of cinnamon tail in the 2nd to last shot.  COOL!!!!

EDIT- Bville's post went up while I was reading and posting mine!  Great shots Bville!  and no, that's not a hawk, its the CAMERA!  sorry..

Russell, thanks for the great shots of Kay. She's looking quite round in those close-ups, isn't she?
Bville, thanks for the screen caps. I enjoy the way you use them to tell a story.

Here's the video of this morning's visit.

    2:15pm

Hi everyone. Kay flew in from left--I think she may have carried in a branch--didn't quite catch it! She adjusted a branch or two and then exited left.  I managed to get a pic before she left:

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

I don't know either, Aurora. She definitely picked up a rather long stick and put it back down, but I don't know whether she actually brought it in with her.

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

Here's what happened. The stick was already lying across one of the eggs, but not obvious:

Part of it was across the bar as Kay landed. (By the way, notice how Kay just squeezes her wing past the pole the left. You can see her right wingtip there.):

When Kay lands, she jostles the stick, and it moves between the two eggs:

She spots the stick over the eggs and steps into the nest bowl to move it:

She picks up the stick and places it at the edge of the nest bowl:

    Video to follow shortly.

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

3:26 p.m. Yippee! Kay flies into the nest from left, lands on bar, looks at nest then turns and faces left, looking around; stays about 2 minutes then off. She does look trim compared to "pre-laying" self, but healthy. So happy to see her for a moment-I missed the earlier visits!

Re: Kay and Jay 2nd Season: After Eggs

3:25pm - I just looked in for a second just as Kay (I think) was leaving the nest to the left.  I saw her standing on the bar for a second, then she was gone.  I did not see her come in.
