    Re: Observation Thread

Thanks wings2c, I was consulting my husband while you posted your suggestion. We have RealPlayer on Mac's. He said it shouldn't be doing that... but perhaps there is some delay in the transmission? From OK to CA? Anyway, I'll try just viewing the website directly for a more accurate viewing. (?) Who knows why or what is happening...(?)

    Re: Observation Thread

12:56 Adult leave nest. H standing in same postion...about 11:00 at back of platform facing in.

12:58 H turns slightly facing out at about 10:00. Turns back in. Following with head.

13:01 Turns facing out at about 11:00 again then back in again.

13:02 Extending wings. Moves to edge of platform at 9:00. Pulling at large stick with talon then moves to 11:00 again. Assumes position.

You are welcome. Mine is doing it now. I am in Wisconsin. I wonder if reloading would help. Maybe it loses seconds after playing for a while???

    Re: Observation Thread

I did read of a RT Hawk nestling that refused to leave the nest and the parents left it there. It had to be rescued. Let's hope this isn't the case here. I believe this one will fly. Positive thoughts. Break time for me.

    Re: Observation Thread

    2:10. sunny and warm.

Thunder is in nest facing 9:00 pulling at and eating prey. Is holding prey down with left foot only.

Takes a few stringy bites, then turns and faces cam at 6:00. Fabulous brows! One more pull on prey and he suddenly backs away from prey.

He turns and faces 8:00, bends down to clean toe on left foot (told you it was stringy). Lifts left foot slightly to again clean with bill.

2:12 Backs all the way to far right side of nest, looks around, picks around at the sticks, then runs over and jumps over the concrete to the other side of the platform.

2:14 Picks a little at the few sticks, body facing 10:00, head looking down at 11:00.

He slightly rotates body, lifts wings way up over back and jumps in air. The camera follows him over to the EDGE.

He is looking off at 9:00, around and down.

2:16 Looking right 12:00, body facing 9:00 (satellite dish is at 2:00).

2:17 Looking straight up while body facing 9:00. When looking up it is mostly to one direction but he also twists his neck around to view other angles.

2:19 Now looking up to the right at 12:00, now back over the shoulder and up. He steps out on edge even further with left foot, right foot steps off edge back onto platform.

2:20. Now standing on platform facing 12:00, looking down, then up, then turns body around (like a smooth dance step!) until facing 8:00 back by concrete ledge.

2:21 He is standing back looking toward 9:00. A couple of times he ever so subtly raised his tail on a horizontal plane.

2:21 Slight flap of wings, lifts tail and wings slightly, walks quickly toward the edge. Turns at last minute and wanders into corner at 1:00. What a tease. Oh , he is SO ready to taste those air currents!

    Re: Observation Thread

15:17 Thunder has discovered the bracket that the camera is attached to.  He has stepped out on it & is really close to the camera, looking right into the camera  The bracket is at 6:00 in front of the nest railing.  Has a good vantage point from here as well it's a long way down, lol.  H is facing 9:00, looks at 6:00 cocking his head at the camera.  Beautiful close up shots.

    Re: Observation Thread

This bird is soooo ready to fly.  Isn't Thunder beautiful when she spreads her wings!  When I drove by there the other day I realized just how far up it is.  I think I would think twice about taking a leap from there.  It's definately a looooong way down.  You can tell, at times, that Thunder wants to go sooo bad.

    Re: Observation Thread

    15:50 (nest time)

    85 degrees F.  Wind N 10 mph.

Seems more windy than NOAA reports for Tulsa, looking at H's feathers swooshing around.  He did snack a few minutes ago on lefover carcass.  Very active since.  Moving from nest to platform edge (almost over!) (at 11) and now at railing at 6.  Now settling on this 6 railing for awhile. (now it's 15:53, and he's calming down, just looking around.  For a bit there, just like this morning, he appeared to want to go.

15:57  Spoke too soon.  H moved back over to about 11 at platform near edge.  Have to leave for a few hours...  Keep it up gang.  You are all great.  I look forward to reading later .....
