Re: Donna's palemaleirregular post...here is a photo of a sky dance by courting hawks, which I found. Eagles do the same wonderful kind of sky dance.

Tripsqkr - These are awesome photos. I am so impressed. Thank you!

I didn't take the pics, they were sent in to the station by one of Thunder's watchers.  I especially love the one of Thunder practicing lift with full wing span.

Thank you for posting those here, Tripsqkr! They are terrific pictures. I, too, just had to take a quick breath when I saw her wingspan from that angle. Magnificent bird. Don't we all feel like proud parents!? It's amazing how totally obsessed I still am with her. So hard being so far away. I envy all of you getting to see her up close and personal. Please thank the person who took those.

To Wayne and Barbara Roberts in case you watch this forum:

Thanks for sending those photos of Thunder to the station.  I was particularly glad to see the one that showed a close-up of the top of the tower.  Now we know what Thunder was perching on up there above the nest.

Here are BTs photos from this morning. Breathtaking.

Also one from the internet of hawks skydancing. I messed up my earlier post.

    Re: Photos/ screen captures

I was confused too, but I don't think I got an answer earlier, Catbird. Do you think that is where Thunder landed when she fledged? I thought she was on the sattelite dish, but in the pictures, it look like a round ledge. So a dot would help. Do you know if she is still there, or did they see her fly off?

    Re: Photos/ screen captures

Wings, I don't recall anyone who has actually been there and seen Thunder's location referring to it as a dish.  Some time yesterday I posted in the Observation thread saying that the photos up then looked to me as though Thunder was on the top of those circular things that go around the base of the tower.  It still looks that way to me, though in the photos George posted this morning in a separate thread, taken yesterday, it looks like he was up a little higher on a different circular thing.  He could be branching back and forth between those locations.

    Re: Photos/ screen captures

I also posted this on the observation thread pg 133 I think, so I copied it here also.

Just my observation, but I think the pics that BT got earlier were of Thunder, mostly because of the brownish color on the chest.  If you look at most of the pics we have posted of Thunder, especially the one that was taken last week of the full wing span, you can notice the color.  The one of Kay & Jay on the golden rod their chests are white.  Check out this link as well, they have pics from the very beginning since the eggs hatched. There are about 5 pages of posts, lots of pics http://discuss.hancockwildlifechannel.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2671&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
I don't think that Thunder has ventured off the building & flown around yet.  There is lots of room on the roof for Thunder to practice lifts etc to sharpen his/her skills.  I am going to post this on the photo thread as well because of the link for pics.

    Re: Photos/ screen captures

I agree that in the photos she was on the rings. It may be me, and me alone, that thought it was a satellite dish that she was on. I can't remember where I got that bright idea but am not going to go back searching now, with Thunder back on the nest and sticking landings and flying, really for real flying!
