Great collection of photos, Bville. I love the Sam and Falcon comparison. Sam's photo didn't show up at first. I also love the way Thunder represents, as any self-respecting red-tail should.

In the meantime, I've done a little research, and here is a link to a forum about the Minnesotans. All is well. It landed on a silo at the plant, and it's being fed by the parents.

Thanks for the good news, bobdmac.  We appreciate all the good news about those other nests that we can get!
One question for ya, bob:  My screen captures that were showing up just fine before are suddenly not showing up here (a few postings ago... on this thread... also on the Photos thread...???).
(bowing down):  You have much technical knowledge, our great BobGodofTechnicalThings.....  Any idea as to why this is happening???

Yes, me, too--I just posted on the other thread that this happened to me twice yesterday, with the Sam the Eagle photo you commented about not displaying at first.

The Flickr photos (maybe others?) have been vanishing for me too, today..maybe Flickr is having trouble? Bobdmac: Thanks for the link and the major relief at the news that the baby is safe on the silo, and being watched out for by parents and workers alike. I hope Sara sees this. She was so worried last night!

Once when I accessed the Flickr site today, I got a screen note that Flickr was experiencing "hiccups," and one should try to "Click" later.

Ditto, bobdmac, on the falcons link.

Oh geez, Socal––stop! Okay, I'm tempted to say that something is wrong with the Flicker site, but maybe you're not using quite the right link. Has the photo of yours that I put up stayed up? If so, here's how I did it, and tell me if you did the same thing:

I click on the photo in the gallery. Then I click on the little tab at the top of the picture that says "all sizes." Then right above the photo, there's a blue box that says "Download the original size." I right click on that (or option click if you're on a one-button Mac) and select "Copy link location."

Once I've got that address in my clipboard, I go to the message box on the reply page in the forum and click on the "insert image" button and paste in (command v on the Mac) the link address. This should work, Here's a trial:

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

Thanks bobdmac... Actually that's exactly what I did.  The wierd thing to me is... If it was a problem originating from Flickr, then it would not have posted at all...  But it did post.  And it was there for awhile... but then later on it was gone.   Once it posts, is it is no longer connected with Flickr  or  is  it?   If it is.. and Flickr is having a problem... then why is the one you posted still there... and the ones I posted on the "post fledge" thread still there?...  Hmmm.  Maybe we'll all have to bow down to the cyberspace gods and ask them...

o.k. here's my experiment... I'm doing another one to test:
Jay shows us his beautiful red tail.

Well it took two tries.. Then it finally worked.

Well Socal, those are all excellent questions, which I unfortunately can't answer. I'm totally stumped. Maybe you should re-try posing those others. You could go back and edit your posts. I do believe the images are downloaded "on demand" and not stored on the forum site here.

You are right bobdmac they are not stored here they are linked to flickr.

I did notice one thing when I right clicked on your red x socal then clicked properties this is the url it shows:

    http://http//farm4.static.flickr.com/3255/2624779601_c4d7547177_o_d.png

If you notice it has http:// twice. They normally won't work with two of those. On bobs pic it has

    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3081/2624778455_e319c4854b_o_d.png

That is the only difference I see. Next time anyones flickr pictures let me know or check something I posted and see if it disappears too.

I agree with bobdmac, Observer... Well, this is all a learning situation for me.  I do enjoy learning!  Thanks, Observer!  And I think I am also beginning to "get" that fine line between technology and witchcraft idea, bobdmac.

I think I'll lean more toward the witchcraft side. It has to make more sense than technology!! LOL!

I ran into this duplication discrepancy when I first learned about posting images. When I get to the Insert Image icon, click on it, and the box comes up for pasting the URL, there is already an http:// highlighted in blue there. If you paste the URL in while that is highlighted, you end up with the proper address. If that highlighted area is taken off highlight (I'm sure there's a "witchy" term for that which escapes me), then  when you paste, you end up with two http:// 's. I remember only that this caused a problem with posting, but I can't relate it exactly to the now-you-see-it, now-you-don't phenomenon.
