Jay on the goldenrod this evening around 7:00 pm, in what little shade there is!!!

Glad to see him - as last spotting was July 25th.  Hopefully the more camera shy Kay is hanging out in the cooler shade of the trees.

What is that in the sky just beyond the goldenrod.  Jay seems to be looking that direction?  Thanks for the picture.  Good to see him.

I'm not sure gunit. (so glad you are still watching!!!!)    I also wondered and zooming in did not help.  While I was watching it, at first thought it was little bird or big bug, but then I also got impression of a feather is it went lower and down below goldenrod and disappeared.

Yesterday evening around 6 pm I saw Kay on the goldenrod of the nesting tower.  Then later at 7 pm I spotted her on the Mazzios tower -- hmm, wondering where Jay off to now?

This evening around 7 pm I could see Jay on one of the nesting tower antennaes - looking off to the east.  As I drove off that direction, I could hear some complaining birds in the trees - maybe Kay in the shade?

Oh thank you guys for the reports and updates. It keeps me looking for ward to nest refurbishing season not to far away now!!!

Perched facing north - watching a block party at a church a block north.



Note Jay's talons as he stretches his right wing - it was all a very graceful move with perfect balance on that smooth metal pole!!!

This evening as I drove by around 6:20, they were again at the tower - facing south this time with Kay in closer to the tower, Jay on the outer position of the goldenrod.

Sure have seen a different side to their relationship this spring/summer without the demands of family.  Lots of time spent perched together companionably - instead of grabbing a quick minute here and there while Thunder preoccupied somewhere else!!!

Thanks for the update photos catgirl!  Awesome to see them hanging on the tower together. Does anyone know what is going on with the tower cam? Its been down over a week I think...and I don't dare email the station to ask. ;)

Thanks so much Catgirl for all your efforts and continuious updates!!!! Kay and Jay are really looking good, maybe they needed some quality time together before next season! LOL!

Sallyls I think Russell is on vacation. That may be why the cam isn't working. Their is an updated still shot from the tower cam on the front page but the streaming video doesn't appear to be working. Right now it is looking down toward the street.

Thanks KJRH for fixing the cam. Although it locks up my puter and I keep having to restart it. I zoomed and cropped the pic and it looks like the egg under the sticks.

Ditto, Observer. Great catch on the toss-back to the nest! It was about time for us to have another rally 'round the Ovum.

I think you're correct about the egg-in-hiding. Looks like it is in the same approximate spot it was on July 30. There are sticks in the same pretzel-like configuration around it; and the egg appears to be still in the lower left third of that "pretzel."

WOW!!! Nest shot.  Yes!  Thanks Observer, Bville. Sure does look like the nest has been "fluffed" or something.  Can't wait for the 2009 fall remodeling!  :)

I caught that image too, Observer! The camera hadn't worked in so long that I'd almost given up! (BTW, nice to see you again!)

Great analysis, Bville (as always)! I think its hiding under there, but I wonder in what condition? Has anyone ever answered the question, what would Kay and Jay do with a rock hard egg (if it's still there at rebuilding time)?

I'm with you Sally, it'll be nice to see something rather than swirls, skyline and an empty nest!!! Bring on the Redtails!
