    Re: Observation Thread

My view of hawk cam is blank but stationary image on kjrh.com screen has changed from an hour ago. It reads 11:42 a.m.

It is sunny, 58 with NNW wind at 13 MPH.

H is standing with head bent slightly down, facing 10:00, over by concrete ledge.

An hour ago he was over to far right, standing, facing 12:00.

I do not know for sure if this is todays picture or not. I have seen very little of Thunder in past coupe of days. The screen has been on the street or blank.

    Re: Observation Thread

It is 10:29, 60 degrees with W wind at 10 MPH.

My hawk cam screen is still blank but on the KJRH.com home page, on the far left side just below weather, is a stationary view of what I believe to be an A facing 6.

However, the hawk, which appears to be perched on the metal bar, has quite a white chest ,with no visible streaking. Could it be Thunder?

The time in lower right on video picture says 9:19 p.m.

Of course for all I know these could be shots from 2 weeks ago........

Happy Mother's Day Kay! And all you viewers too!

    Re: Observation Thread

06:43 Clear and cool, breezy.  Thunder is back!  Thanks KJRH, we've missed her.  Perched on concrete curb near 9.  She's grown so much in the past couple of days that we haven't seen her - almost fully feathered.  Her head has darkened considerably and she's perched quite comfortably, preening.  It won't be long now.

8:08  Female Adult in nest rearranging nest material - new greenery.  Thunder is outside the nest to the left watching Kay.  T is very interested in what the adult is doing, watching every move and moving his head to follow K. T seems to be about the same size as K, amazing.  Beautiful spring morning.  Sunshine on the feathers of the two.  K moves away to the right, can't tell if she left the nest or is off camera.

8:24 - As I am watching Thunder move around this morning the camera person seems to be watching also.  The camera is being moved to the left of the nest to show when Thunder is out there and then back to the right when going back to the nest.  Thank you.

    Re: Observation Thread

9:05, 54 and sunny with SE wind 7 MPH.

Thunder is standing with body facing 3:00, although his head is moving around as he surveys his "kingdom".

He is on the far left side of the concrete wall. there are hardly any sticks on this side at all, first time I have had such a good view of the entire platform.

When I first clicked on the cam to see if it was finally working it was an amazing, beautiful close up of his face! Then the camera panned out. Wow, what a gorgeous bird! Thank you to the camera man.

10:44 Thunder in the nest alone, standing looking toward 12.  Walking about looking over the edge of the nest.

    Re: Observation Thread

12:05 - F tearing at prey and eating @ 3. Thunder standing on railing @ 9 observing.  Thunder back into the nest and joins F at prey.  Thunder is being fed by F and tearing at prey as well.  A gust of wind blows F and the prey to the 9 side of the nest.  Both Thunder and F keep eating at the 9 side of the nest.

    Re: Observation Thread

12:15 - Thunder was in the center of the nest flapping her wings.  Her feet actually came off the floor of the at least three times and she ended up at the railing on the 3 side of the nest.  That is the first time I have seen her feet off the "ground".

    Re: Observation Thread

19:58 - Thunder alone in nest.  Much flapping.  Her feet came off the "ground" again.  She was on the railing at 9, flapping and her feet came off the railing.  She went back into the nest and kept flapping and "floating".  How exciting to see her confidence building.

    Re: Observation Thread

7:30 - Temperature 68 degrees and cloudy. Wind S12mph. High today will be 77 with a chance of strong thunderstorms last afternoon into the evening.

Thunder is alone in nest standing on railing at 3 looking out. She is facing into the wind and balancing on the railing.  She seem to open her wings a little to feel the wind.  She is doing very well balancing.  It almost looks like she will just fly away any second.

    Re: Observation Thread

7:35, Mostly cloudy, 68 with S wind at 15 MPH.

Thunder is standing on far right edge facing 3.

Very alert, looking down and around. Getting to know area.

Wind is catching feathers slightly lifting wings. He is very well balanced. The camera person is watching also, adjusting cam
    for best view.

It looks like the wind would just easily lift wings, if Thunder stepped off. He looks so ready to go!

    Re: Observation Thread

Thunder may be ready to go, but I'M not ready for him to go.  This has been such an awesome experience.  Such a beautiful bird, I have so enjoyed watching him grow, mature, and become the beauty that he is.
