I commented to Russell about it back in March or early April - he told me not to worry, they would be back.  He did not offer any explanations as to why the drop in population.  But I still see few pigeons along that two mile stretch of Brookside.

Got a new mainboard/motherboard for computer so slowly getting everything back.

I was in the area around 12:30 - 1 pm.  Did not see any hawks at 12:30, but at 12:50 pm I could see both of them on the goldenrod of the KJRH nesting tower.  It looked like Jay was facing south, right up against the tower in the little bit of shade the tower afforded at the time of day!  Kay was sitting a couple  of feet further out, facing north.

No photos as with the heat here, I am not carrying my camera around with me -  way way too hot to leave it in the car.

Thanks to everyone else for their postings of sightings, info, and just checking in.

I was over on Peoria at around 6pm picking up burgers at Webers and spotted Kay and Jay on the goldenrod, both facing south.  I watched for maybe 10 minutes as they chatted and preened. Was good to see them again.

Thanks to all for the reports on Kay and Jay's whereabouts. Workaholic, any sightings of the Langenheims? Catgirl, anything new on the other family groups?

Catgirl, Workaholic, woohoo - all of you doing ground reports are such a blessing to us! I may not comment every time, but I check here every day for sightings of our Kay and Jay.

Catgirl, I am thrilled that your computer is up and running! I fretted when you made that post about your computers problems. And, we totally understand about your camera and hot Oklahoma days! Your verbal sightings are more than enough!!!

I too saw our favorite pair perched on the tower sitting next to each other yesterday. Workaholic, I was there aroung 5 p.m. so they must have stayed for awhile.

Also saw one of them this morning around 7:30 while driving through for a bagel - he/she was on a lower bar -

CamFan - no need to comment each time. I am grateful to live so close and can look for them most everyday. They are not around all the time, but it is clear they still consider the KJRH tower to be their territory and it makes me feel good to see them occasionally and know they are still doing fine.

It has been great to see the nest and to know that Kay and Jay are still active in the area of KJRH. 

Thank you for the pic Bville!  I got one, too, thrilled to see the nest! So wonderful to hear reports of our pair.  I watched hopefully for a glimpse on the nest and will continue whenever the station allows us the view!

I saw Kay and Jay on the goldenrod this evening around 6 pm on my way home from work.  I just could not resist so grabbed my camera when I got home and went back out!

Kay and Jay were still on the goldenrod (facing south), with what appeared to be a mockingbird serenading the lovers.


However, it really was just harassing them nonstop for the 20 minutes I watched.



I went on to check on their neighboring redtail pairs, and when I circled back home around 7:30ish, they were still sitting on the goldenrod.
Hopefully I can get an update written on some of the other pairs soon and posted on the raptor rap page.

Thanks, catgirl. Beautiful photos here and on your Flickr site. (Ah, the moon and the redtail, spectacular!)  Seeing Kay and Jay together on the Tower never ceases to be heartening. And the mockingbird, endlessly mocking, is great. I look forward to your reports on other Tulsa family groups. I'll gather the info from your Flickr site, as well, and transfer the sightings to the Google Map.
