Kay roosting on rail at 6 turned toward the camera.  Thunder in nest.

Kay still on rail at 6 looking straight at the camera, what a great pic.

    Re: Observation Thread

Current temperature 62 with high today being 81. Winds currently SSW 2mph switching to NE 10mph later today.

7:45 - H on railing @10 looking around.  Thanks to the camera person for moving the camera left.  We can now see the 9 position railing as well as all of the outside nest area to the left.  H seems very interested in that area.

8:05 - H backs off railing into the nest and immediately hops back up on the railing @9.  This area seems to be her confidence building area.

    Re: Observation Thread

08:08 Thunder sitting on the concrete curb looking toward 9. It doesn't seem possible that next week it will be time for her to fledge.  She's been spending a lot of time exploring her sky high perch, going out of the main nest onto the platform at 9, flappng and exercising her wings.  Until the feathers on her head come in completely, she looks a bit buzzard-like...  Right now, she looks as if she's wearing a bad toupe.

    Re: Observation Thread

13:50 - H laying in nest at 9 facing 11 looking around.  He (new information from Raptorman, who is now convinced that Thunder is male) seems quieter this afternoon than yesterday.  Yesterday he was doing more flapping exploring than he is today.

    Re: Observation Thread

14:35 - H standing on railing @9, bends over and defecates across the nest toward 3. Steps down off railing to the area outside the nest to the left.  Walks to out of camera range, back into camera range but can only see half of him.  There is new greenery in the nest at 3 and what looks to be a partially eaten mouse at 6.  Back on to railing @9,

15:35 - H alone in nest (which is the majority of the time now) @6 facing 9 eating from the mouse.  He seems to be struggling at tearing the prey apart.

    Re: Observation Thread

I thought it was my computer. I couldn't watch it at all last night. Crying I emailed the station, but didn't get a reply. Maybe the weather has interfered with it. I hope nothing is wrong. It is like not being able to get in touch with your children, isn't it?

I thought it was my computer, too, and am having withdrawls.

Current temp is 59, cloudy skies.  Tulsa is expecting some severe weather this afternoon.

    Re: Observation Thread

No. Nothing.  I hope this is not a problem with the camera itself - they wouldn't be able to repair until the hawklet fledges...
