    Re: Post-fledge observations

As the leaves get less and less on the trees, and some beautiful cool sunny days, I keep hoping for spotting some hawk-like shapes in the trees.
On my way home today, I zigzagged through the KJRH neighborhood, hoping, wishing, dreaming of spotting one of the KJRH hawks.  As I came upon some construction I zigged one more time and WOW
my wish came true.  I parked and snapped a few pictures.
I will post more on my flickr site later, as well as a few other sightings from the past week.
And I give you THUNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or I am pretty sure it is.)

    Re: Post-fledge observations

Wow, catgirl!!! I can't believe my luck in timing this time... I haven't spent much time at all at the computer doing any posting lately. But I do check the site a few times a week... and this time... voila! Thank you so much, catgirl! That's such a gorgeous pic with that incredible blue Tulsa sky today! The one thing that strikes me is the tail. Either I've been away too long, and Thunder's tail is actually shorter than I remembered... or ... ??? I'm anxious to check out your other views of this VERY pretty rth! Thanks again, catgirl! This just put icing on the cake of my already wonderful day! (I, too, had a sighting of my own today on a heaven-sent bike ride earlier today!... our neighborhood juvie rth! Hadn't seen her for awhile, and now she's back! - yay!)
Will check in again later... Hugs -- socal.

    Re: Post-fledge observations

Oh, frabjous day, Catgirl--you are the best! Many thanks for your dedicated searching, finding, and capturing this sighting. I've put it up with photos of your 8-4 & 10-16 sightings of Thunder. (Also put it on the Map) Looking forward to more on your Flickr site! Hi, Socal and Sallyls! Even I saw a hawk today here in Bartlesville, though due to traffic I couldn't stop and look. Just a glimpse at one on a light pole right beside the street. But since we were in town, I'm claiming this as an urban hawk! And while I'm claiming, I'll hope it was an RTH.

Al-riiiiiight! What a splendid photo of Thunder! Thank you so very much, catgirl. And of course since we are all popping our heads up here, like dandelions, clearly we were all here and lurking all along, and just waiting for such a moment! Bville: Thank you for the heads up! Next stop, catgirl's Flickr site!

    Re: Post-fledge observations

So glad so many of you were lurking around.  I love to share the excitement and thrill of the "hunt"!!
I've added a few more views at my flickr site now.  She just was not perched in a good position for photos!  I could only get a good view directly under her, otherwise the sun and tree branches were in the way.  She was busy looking around with some preening going on (hence the poof ball pictureSmile).
Ever since July, I have been noticing a certain pattern.  Kay and Thunder disappear for a couple of weeks, then I see Kay and then a day or so later Thunder is around.  I was cutting through that neighborhood today mainly because of seeing Kay there 36 hours earlier, I thought maybe I would spot her somewhere  -  I was not expecting ThunderBig Smile - though with the pattern, I should have been!!!

    Re: Post-fledge observations

I haven't been here for a while for various reasons, but I decided to pop in and catch up. You all are amazing. Without your dedication and persistence we would be less informed, less educated and less proud.

And, Catgirl!!!! Oh my. To log in and be able to see Thunder.....then Kay and Jay! It lifted my spirits in hard times and brought a smile to my face. I am so excited at the prospect of watching another family at the KRJH tower. Thank You, all, so much!

Ooo, thanks for the great image, Catbird! We can find ourselves below, whether in the younger, vibrant yellow form, or in the more mature, "fluffy" white---

Catbird said, "Bville: Remember when Thunder looked like the puffballs in the middle picture?" Oh, my, yes! What a lovely memory, Catbird; you make the "dandy" image even more touching. Thanks a bunch (of dandelions)! (smile, sniff sniff )  OK, group hug....
