    Liberal or Conservative????

We always hear these two words used to describe someone.

Can someone please post the exact meaning of these two words?

Do not post what you "think" they mean, but rather the "exact" definition of these two terms.

That way I can be sure of someone's politics.

    Good Luck

    Re: Liberal or Conservative????

Liberal- Believes that the government must take charge to change economical, political, and idealogical policies thought to be unfair.

Conservative- Seeks to keep the economical, political, and social structures of a current society.

This is correct I am 99% sure of myself. The other 1% is so if I am slightly off, i'm not wrong with my percentages too! Stick out tongue

    Boy are you wrong.

Why don't you go to your Websters dictionary and look up "Political Liberal" and "Political Conservative"

Then you will know whats correct.

Then come back here and let me know.

    Thanks for your reply.

Willieboy, if you're going to be critical of someone's definition, why don't you spend some time with Websters and tell us the correct meaning?

    Re: Liberal or Conservative????

I read the information I gave from a new American Government textbook, so either...

A-The things being taught at schools are WRONG!

B-I misread the information in my NEW textbook.

    C-Both

The way this is worded it sounds like you want me to state what you already know, and that leaves no purpose for this thread.

Also, when you say "exact" definition please remain open to the fact some sources are worded differently yet mean same or similar things.

(Oh, and on the online version of Merriam Webster, "liberal" and "conservative" are words, but with "political" in front, it is no longer recognized.)
