11:35 - H standing in center of nest facing 1.  The rain is coming down very hard and the wind is blowing.  She looks very wet and alone in the nest.

    Re: Observation Thread

14:15 - H still alone in nest.  She is standing in middle of nest facing 12, preening feathers.  I have not seen an adult in the nest today nor have I observed a feeding.  The rain has stopped and the wind is calm.

20:11 Adult arrives at 9:00....soaking wet as is Thunder. Two scraggly, matted wet hawks. Preening each other. Both standing . Thunder trying to preen itself, but Mom insist on helping.

    Re: Observation Thread

It is now  8:02 a.m. and either Kay or Jay is on the ledge at approx. 5, mostsly hidden from view, so I can't tell which one.   H is now eating something, can't see what.

    Re: Observation Thread

8:27, 61 with wind NW at 13 MPH, thunderstorms last night.

H in nest alone, facing 11 with head down, bent over prey, eating breakfast left by A. No adult is in sight.

She has what looks like a small gray rodent pinned with talons, bends and pulls pieces of meat (bones/fur etc) and swallows.

As she eats she slowly turns her body a little to her left in a circle, still eating and pulling at prey. She doesn't really lift
her feet completely up during this motion, nor does she lift
her head above the horizontal plane of her body.

She is very focused. She has this eating thing down.

    Re: Observation Thread

09:44 - F and H both sharing prey in nest at 2. H ate all of the earlier prey so F must have brought something else, can't tell what it is.

    Re: Observation Thread

09:51 - H flapping her wings at 9. With a combination of flapping and stepping she got herself up onto the railing at 9, balances but almost falls off.  She sits there for several minutes looking around and preening.

10:01 - H steps back off the railing into the nest. M flies in at 9 with small prey, places it in the nest at 6. F flies in at 3 with larger prey and places it in the nest at 6. M flied out toward 9. F tearing prey, eating herself and feeding H.

This is the first time in a long time that I have observed all three in the nest at the same time, if only for a few seconds.

    Re: Observation Thread

10:08 Thunder flaps wings and jumps onto rail at 9:00. Jumps down on other side of nest, over rail. Picks something up...drops it. Turns, jumps back onto rail and into nest.

10:11 Back onto rail at 9:00. Standing looking all around. Camera pans over to view the left side of platform.

10:13 Fresh greenery in this area. Turns around and back into nest. Becoming much more agile and confident. Flapping wings and pulling them straight up into the air. Amazing to watch.

10:15 Hops a little and flaps wings. facing camera. Obviously, outgrowing the nest. It won't be long. Walks toward pole across from camera. Looking out between pole and ladder. Turns back around. Walks toward camera. It almost looks like it is getting it's belly band feathers in.  Preening.

    Re: Observation Thread

10:21 Sitting now, focusing on something outside of tower. Very still. Competely rotates head. Lost focus and preens.

Would love to be able to witness the adults teaching it to hunt.

10:27 Adult (M?) arrives with prey. Other adult (f?) arrives as well. I assume the male leave and the female stays and works on prey. Adult eating. Looks like a small bird or a mouse. Hard to tell. Offers Thunder food and it takes it. Eating large pieces now.

    Re: Observation Thread

At 2:30 P.M. Thunder was seen climbing out of the nest onto the outside area at 11 and going to the outer edge.  She was very interested in what was going on in the outside world and sort of "feeling her oats".  She then preened for a bit. (She's getting to be a very beautiful bird.)  At approximately 2:35 she climbed back up onto the railing and sat just watching everything around her.

    Re: Observation Thread

2:45 P.M. Observed Thunder being fed by F, looks to be a mouse.  Eating quite hungrily.  F also eating.  She's at 2, Thunder is in nest.
