I tried the link too, had same problem and I have'nt a clue to copy and paste folks.

Reading about you're short and awful story on the great horn owls. One of  the nest sites in Toronto with same pair of peregrine nester's (Etobicoke location to be exact) attack pair of red tail hawks. They were nesting in the vicinity of the falcon's territory and falcon voluteer watcher's seen the commotion on their daily observing of the peregrine's offspring. To their complete disbelieve and horror, they seen the peregrine adults chase and kill one red tail hawk. Then some day's later the remaining adult hawk was chased, and killed too. Some one called the peregrine organization, to report the adult's had left the nest unattended for quite awhile in their backyard tree and were concerned for the nestlings and what could they do to help. They did climb up to investigate the nest but, sadly the young hawlets where gone and the folks where devastated. They called the falcon org., back and  as you can imagine they were stunned to hear the whole family of red tails where lost. I guess raptor's are indeed a territorial species, and do chase or kill intruders within  their boundaries.

Here's the link again, Weeyin.  I've hot-linked it, so it should work. That's a truly horrifying story about the hawks and peregrines (another one of my faves). I wonder how often that happens.

No need to apologize for that weeyin. I truly emphathize. I had hand surgery in December, with much therapy after. It's still a pain. I know exactly how you feel.

Wow, as I was watching the nest on my laptop from my the comfort of my bed tonight, I happened to tune in to the Animal Planet's "Raw Nature," where two guys were rappelling down a cliff in South America to get close to some Andean condors. They suspended their tent from the cliff (!) and slept hundreds of feet above the valley floor so they could video the condors at their nest. As exciting as that must have been, I think I'll stick with the web cam for now.

That IS dedication. I admire those folks immensely for their work. They make it possible for me to sit back in my warm home and soft chair and learn from their really, heroic, work. Wow.

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

6:22. a.m. Thank you for the kind words Socal, and I hope you and wings2c have lot's of pain free day's. Take care and again many thanks.

I'm most alway's watching the cam on Loch Lowes osprey nest back home, which is easier as an observer and less bothersome for me. The folks monitoring the osprey camera 24/7 control the zooms, tilts and pans around the loch area, and updates are posted too, a squawkin' delight. This morning I peek'd in and Mama opsrey has one wriggling weeyin tuck underneath her, as she tries to keep offspring dry.

Scotland's reknown'd for it's periods of constant drizzling rainfalls. I can remember growing up as a younster myself, squawking with restlessness at my Mum "will the rain ever stop! I'll never get out to play!"  just as the wee osprey want's out too :)

Weeyin, Scotland is one place I've always wanted to visit. I've been in London, but that's as close as I've gotten, within the British Isles. My late father was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (a medic, actually) in the British Isles during WWII. He said it was a lovely bunch of people over there. War was nightmare, though.

I've been hyping the San Jose peregrine falcon cam. Here's a collection of screenshots with some pretty cute captions. They're getting ready to fledge.

Has everyone, especially those not too familiar with KJRH site, clicked on the large blue area just below the nest cam?  This is the area with the beautiful profile of Kay and the words Kay and Jay Slideshow.  It has some beautiful early on pictures.

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

Gunit, I'm back for a sec only...I have seen them.... Gorgeous. Gunit I'm in to say that I have to go take care of some business for my mom and won't be returning until later afternoon... And I know bobdmac is also busy... If anyone else reading this can observe for us, when the cam is back on the nest... ?? Thanks.... Thanks again Gunit.

And per your message on the other thread, bobdmac: "Good morning, Socal. I'd love to step in, but unfortunately my real life calls. I also have issues with my 86-year-old mother to deal with."
It is hard when our Moms are so old and need us so much more. Mine is 85... Anyway, good luck with her. You're a good son, obviously. My mom is very lucky to have my brother, my husband and myself. She needs us all! Later, socal

Re: Raptor rap: A place for the flock to squawk, talk, and speculate about Raptors and related subjects

I plan to add a LOT more pictures to that slide show. It hasn't been updated in quite some time.

For those of you interested, Kay and Jay first showed up in June 2007 and created quite a stir even then. I've posted a new "video archive" page that pretty much tells the tale.

Here's the link to the Kay and Jay Red Hawk video archive. Let me know if it doesn't work, seem to have had a problem with that page overnight.
