    Re: Post-fledge observations

14:40 - Camera on empty nest.  Socal, I was driving by the station this afternoon just before 2:00pm and saw a lone hawk circling in the sky above the station tower.  It was too far away for me to be able to make an identification but it looked to me like it landed in the nest area for just a brief minute before flying off to the neighborhoods to the west of the station.  Now that you have the screen shot it looks like we were looking at the same thing, only from different vantage points.  After that brief sighting there was noting else I could find.  It is pretty hot out there so maybe a nice cool place near the river is where our family is vacationing this afternoon.

    Re: Post-fledge observations

2:48 p.m. No hawks in view on the platform, or left half of nest (all that's visible) since Thunder departed at 2:00 p.m.   Gunit, I was hoping that either you or catgirl would follow up with an in-person sighting of what I was "screen-capturing"!  Yay!....  And in bobdmac's tone... "And your camera was where?"....  : )   just teasing.... both o' ya.

Go Socal! I saw the screen shot you posted on the photos thread. All I can say is, "Don't take off your cowboy hat!"

    Re: Post-fledge observations

Of course, Gunit! Silly me. Lord knows my little digital camera wouldn't be able to do much for capturing the hawks soaring around our neighborhood... I do mean to try sometime, but I doubt it will show more than just a speck in the sky. bobdmac: Thanks for the cheering on! I have to put that hat down for awhile....hopefully pass it on to others....(hint)... I only got half of what I intended to get done actually done today! (My wayward wild-eyed child within cries out: "YEAH, but WHO CARES ?!? You got to see Thunder!!!") 4:25 p.m. empty nest and platform.

8:12 pm Camera looking south on Peoria.  The tall buildings you see to the left in the distance are the CityPlex Towers.  I work on the 31st floor of the 60 story tower.  Built to withstand an F-5 tornado, the second tallest building in the state of Oklahoma. History of the building you can go to this link.

RE my recent tribute to Socal:
    1. In my clever haste, I omitted one vital component in the quest for symmetry. Therefore, you might revisit said cleverness in my edited original.

    2.  Hey, I like the heart-shaped hands idea--never occurred to me, Socal.

    Re: Post-fledge observations

Wow, tripsqkr. You must have a wonderful view from your workplace! And that building is mighty impressive... Has Tulsa ever had anything close to an F-5? Thanks once again, by the way, for providing us out-of-towners with more "tour guide" material!... and orienting us to yet another portion of our view from the KJRH tower cam! p.s. to Bville... after I hit "post" on the above part to tripsqkr, I saw your post... VERY CUTE!!! I like it! Thank you, Bville. This forum is just too much fun with all of you! I'm learning more and more about Tulsa from tripsqkr, alot about hawks and other feathered friends out there in all kinds of nests from Catbird and bobdmac...and, of course about the entertaining adventures of deer and racoon from redfinch...and much more of late about the doings of our own Kay, Jay and Thunder from catgirl and Gunit.... and well, just so much about screen capturing... posting photos and links here...etc. from, well, from everybody here it seems!!! (With kind, calming reminders from Observer to slow down and take a breath!).  And, by the way, where is Chinook these days?.. so often we have been wowed by Chinook's poetry and poignant prose... And where is our weeyin, with her wonderful Scottish take on all of this?...If you're reading this, you two... We miss you!   And, of course, we miss our wings2c, but understand her plight at the moment, and know she's "with us" while her hand recovers...and last but not least... what would this forum be without Russell!  Every post he's made, every photo, every camera angle accomplished that he's managed to squeeze into his work day... what would this forum be without him?!...Thank you again, Russell, if you are reading this!  Alas, I am full of happiness to be amidst such wonderful new friends... And just think gang, how much fun we're all going to be having when (if... I'm going to think positive... WHEN) Kay and Jay start their next little nesting adventure.... !!! Such fun, and such wonderment all over again! O.K. I'm done rambling... Must go finish folding laundry, then we're getting Sushi! Later!

    Re: Post-fledge observations

6:45 pm  Drive by station on way home from work - there is the Fonze (Jay) hanging out on the antenna - 90 degrees, nice breezes ruffling his feathers.  Went on south on Peoria and as parked to go into store, looked back and could not see any hawks shapes on the tower or any other visible perching spots.

Amen, Socal.  And miss you, too, wings2c--feel better!
