John Brooks Walton is best known throughout the region for his long and feted architectural career with designs, restorations and books that encompass many famous landmarks. His foray into art on the canvas is a more recent bend in his career. In 2003 at the age of 74, he began his artist’s career in a medium of acrylic on canvas with landscapes, still life and origami leans toward a whimsical and warm feeling. Mr Walton has donated 24 paintings along with copies of his books to Oklahomans for Equality for this exhibit. Along with the art and styles of John Brooks Walton, there will be copies of “Walton’s Line”, a poem by Oklahoma Poet Laureate (2003-2007) Francine Ringold; this poem was written for John and artfully describes his unique painting style.
